NEW YORK, NY.- Phillips announced the appointment of Beth Vilinsky as the auction house’s new Senior Vice President and Senior International Design Specialist, Americas, based in New York.

As a new addition to the Americas team, Ms. Vilinsky will partner closely with Cordelia Lembo in New York, Meaghan Roddy in LA, and with Phillips’ team of specialists to cultivate networks among collectors, dealers, and curators to further develop and maintain the auction house’s best-in-class position in the Design market. Her deep expertise in the 20th and 21st Century Design will add even greater depth to an already extraordinary pool of talent. Phillips’ Design team has reached new heights in recent seasons, broadening the reach to new audiences, and cementing its reputation for providing unparalleled expertise.

“Design remains an area of significant importance for Phillips, with the category seeing a remarkable 21% increase in auction sales in 2020,” said Cathy Elkies, Phillips’ Global Managing Director. “On the heels of such a strong year, we are delighted to welcome Beth, as we continue to build momentum in the Design market. She has long been recognized as a true authority in the field and we warmly welcome her experience and knowledge, as she joins our dynamic international team.”

Ms. Vilinsky has had a robust career in the Design field and joins Phillips from Christie’s, where she spent two decades, and was instrumental in such important sales as “Important Tiffany from the Collection of Mary M. and Robert M. Montgomery Jr” (December 2020), “Les Lalanne From the Collection of Sheila W. and Richard J. Schwartz” (June 2019), “Modern Masterpieces: The Alexander Kaplen Collection” (December 2019), and the landmark stand-alone sale “Alberto and Diego Giacometti: Masters of Design” (November 2018.)

In addition to Christie’s, Ms. Vilinksy also spent five years at Bonhams and six years with her own consultancy group. She is a renowned expert in the field of Tiffany and forged the mid-century modern 20th century design sales at Christie’s. She has long been recognized as a true authority in the field and we warmly welcome her experience and knowledge, as she joins our dynamic international team.

Phillips’ Design team has reached new heights in recent seasons, broadening the reach to new audiences and cementing its reputation for providing unparalleled expertise. Highlights for the team include new auction records for Peter Voulkos, Lucie Rie, Marcel Wanders, and Vladimir Kagan, as well as auctions dedicated to Italian lighting and contemporary ceramics.
