TEL AVIV.- Nassima Landau, the new foundation and contemporary art space in Tel Aviv, announces Parallel Worlds, a momentous group exhibition featuring new works from contemporary art stalwarts including Daniel Arsham, Friedrich Kunath, Chloe Wise, Honor Titus, Ori Gersht, Alex Gardner and Onur Hasturk.

Parallel Worlds opened May 6th and runs through June 10th, 2021, and is the fourth exhibition hosted at the Tel Aviv space of Nassima Landau, which was founded in November 2020 by former Tel Aviv Museum of Art Director and Chief Curator Suzanne Landau and collector and former businessman, Steeve Nassima.

Parallel Worlds touches the subject of the extensive influence of masters of the past on contemporary art and traces how the participating artists incorporate them in their artistic language. “What fascinates me most is how artists give a renewed perspective on art history to create something wholly of the present day. Reference to the past is inevitable. Artists study the masters in varying degrees - technique, composition - and through careful observation, they develop their own and unique voice,” says the exhibition’s curator, Suzanne Landau.

The opening of Parallel Worlds follows the opening of the inaugural exhibition, High Voltage, in November 2020 and solo shows with Raffi Kalenderian and Kevin Specht.

The full list of the artists on display as part of Parallel Worlds includes:

Daniel Arsham (b. 1980 Cleveland, Ohio) is based in New York City. His works utilize architecture, performance, and sculpture to engage questions of space and materiality. Arsham co-founded Architecture, a design and architecture studio, in 2007.

Friedrich Kunath (b. 1974, Chemnitz, Germany) is a Los-Angeles based artist. His work combines German Romanticism and western popular culture with still life, cartoon imagery, commercial illustration, nature photography, and lyrical references.

Chloe Wise's (b. 1990, Montreal, Canada) practice includes media, sculpture, video, and installation. She explores the desires built around food and the female body.

Honor Titus (b. 1989 Brooklyn, NY) is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. Titus's oeuvre focuses on the sensation of isolation in urban spaces.

Ori Gersht (b. Israel 1967) lives in London. Gersht's work is concerned with the relationships between history, memory, and landscape through a poetic and metaphorical approach.

Alex Gardner (b. 1987, Long Beach, CA) is a figurative painter whose androgynous black figures envelop the canvas in surreal configurations. His consistent pastel color palette evokes varying moods and emotions that engage the questions of politics, romantic fantasies, and digitized personalities.

Onur Hasturk (b. 1983, Mersin, Turkey) takes inspiration from classical Ottoman painting technique. Trained as a miniaturist artist, his work cultivates transcultural and transhistorical dialogue.
