8 Easy Tips to Make Your Home Office More Creative
To make your home office creative, paint the place in warm color, add decorations, lots of light, small plants, ergonomic chairs, and keep it organized.

Working from home is becoming more common nowadays, because of the ongoing pandemic. Many offices have shut down and shifted to homes.

The concept of working from home is certainly not new. However, we were suddenly put in a tight spot because of lockdowns and the pandemic. In the beginning, many people had issues working from home because they could not find the right space, focus, or motivation to work from home. These issues can be resolved if you change things up a little.

A small creative touch can make your home office comfortable and productive to work in. Here are a few changes that you can make.

1. Use Colorful Decorations
Many people use decoration to increase the aesthetics of their houses. You can do the same with your office room.

Use small decorative items that can uplift your mood by looking at them. It can be a painting on the wall, a decorative vase around the corner of the room, dim pendant or ceiling lights, or any personal items.

But make sure the decorations do not take up much space otherwise, you will not be able to work well in a cluttered room. You can check out Thecreativefolk.com to get some DIY inspiration on how to decorate your room better.

2. Paint the Office with Warm Color
The warm color reminds us of light and brightness. You need brightness if you want your workplace to have a productive feeling. Having cold and dim colors will make your room appear gloomy.

Using colors such as orange, yellow, white, or even red can make your room look friendly and comfortable. You can also try cool colors like light blue but try to avoid darker shades because they usually do not suit office rooms.

3. Use Scented Candles
The right smell can lift your mood and give you a refreshing feeling. You can use scented candles in your home office to eliminate any bad odor.

Place two or three scented candles around the corner of your room and light them up. Or you can put one candle on top of your work desk.

Make sure to get the scent that you enjoy. Otherwise, it will be annoying. A great alternative to scented candles is essential oils.

4. Have a Spot for Pets
If you own a pet, then having it around your workplace can sometimes boost your morale and productivity.

Pets are not allowed in normal offices but since you will work from home; that will no longer be an issue. Have a small spot for your pet in your workspace.

So, when you feel too exhausted from work, you can spend some time with them and freshen up your mind. But do not let it hop on your desk. Otherwise, it will just mess things up.

5. Make Sure There Is Enough Natural Light
The right lighting can help you feel more active and focused. Instead of using plain white energy lights on the ceiling. Try to make your office in a room that has enough natural light. A large window can be a big help here.

Even at home, you will be glued to your computer screen most of the time. Staring at your screen can strain your eyes badly. If you have a large window or a balcony, you can get up from your desk every hour and enjoy the natural air and light.

However, if having a window or a balcony makes the matter too noisy, then choose a different room and add multiple lights to make it bright. You can add accent and decorative lighting to keep your workstation well lit. Accent lighting such as picture lights makes the object or other elements of the room well lit, but decorative lights like wall scones are more aesthetic.

As for your desk, you can simply put an adjustable desk lamp on the desk to light up space.

6. Store Small Plants
Having some plants in your office room will give it an eco-friendly ambiance. Small plants that spread a nice, pleasing aroma are perfect for home offices.

If the plants bloom small flowers, then it is even better. Small plants you can keep in your home office are 'Silverdrop' Eucalyptus, Lemon Balm, Azores Jasmine, etc.

7. Declutter Your Office Space
You need to make sure there is enough space in the room. Having an overcrowded room will make you feel tired and lazy.

So, make optimum use of the space in your office room. Make sure there is absolutely no extra furniture in your office. Just a plain desk, a desk chair, and a cooler or fridge should suffice. You can have a shelf to store the important files and documents, but that is all.

The decoration, plants, lights must not clog up your room.

As for your office tools, have a fixed spot as well. This will clear up a lot of space. If your desk has drawers, you can store the smaller items there such as staplers, pens, pencils, etc. For tools that are slightly larger like measuring scales, you can store them at one corner of the room, or right next to your desk.

8. Use Ergonomic Desk Chairs
You will be spending a long time in the chair, so it has to be ergonomic. Normal wooden or plastic chairs feel uncomfortable after a while.

It will ruin the aesthetics of the room, and it will be problematic for your health. The more flexible your chair is, the better you will be able to work while sitting on it.

Final Thoughts
Working from home gives you full freedom on where and how you want to work. This can be exciting since you now have the opportunity to work in your dream office that you can create with your bare hands. Sure, you have to spend some money to make it look fancy, but you can also follow the easy tips we mentioned here to make your workspace creative and comfortable.
