LONDON, ENGLAND.- Wimbledon School of Art will present Instrumental, an exhibition by MA Fine Art: Drawing & Graphic Media students at Wimbledon School of Art. The exhibition will beon view 27 – 29 May, 12 – 6pm. Instrumental presents fifteen emerging artists involved in the discourse of contemporary drawing. The exhibition addresses conventional notions of drawing through introducing new values and approaches.

Within the show, present debates will be challenged through the dynamics of our individual work. The artists aim to occupy a space within which their work will cultivate the new era of drawing, investigating whether drawing can be truly defined.

"We are particularly interested in the idea that drawing is not a medium specific activity. Moreover it is a method of exploration, thinking and suggestion, whatever materials are used. Drawing can be a visual, mental and manual form of scanning an image.”

The approach to drawing within Instrumental, aims to be thought provoking. The artists involved confront the current debates surrounding the role and definitions of drawing in contemporary visual arts, with investigation and negotiation.
