VADUZ.- Ragaglia, born in 1969, brings a wealth of experience in curating and museum management. After studying art history and museology the South Tyrolean began working as a freelance curator, later becoming chief curator at the Museion – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bolzano in 2002–2008. Going on to take over as Director until May 2020, she was responsible for mounting numerous monographic exhibitions including Isa Genzken, VALIE EXPORT, Carl Andre, Rosemarie Trockel, Danh Vo and various displays of the museum's collection. She was also a member of the jury at the 54th Biennale in Venice in 2010.

Commenting on her new post, Ragaglia says: "A few months have already passed since my appointment, during which time I have been able to focus in depth on Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein and the tasks at hand. By engaging in a dialogue with various members of the team, I have already been able to plan some way ahead. I am now looking forward tremendously to finally getting involved in day-to-day museum work, getting to know the whole team and having the privilege of experiencing the 'Liechtenstein context' at first hand."

Dr. Marion Matt, President of the Board of Trustees of Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, looks forward to working with the new Director: "Letizia Ragaglia impressed us in the selection procedure with her experience, expertise and her personable, open manner. Building on work to establish and position the museum under Friedemann Malsch, she will of course also bring fresh impetus. I am certain that she will devote herself with great commitment to consolidating and further developing Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein both in the region and the international art world."

Letizia Ragaglia takes over as Director of Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein from Dr. Friedemann Malsch, who retired on 30 June. Founding Director Dr. Malsch has run the museum since its opening in November 2000. During his more than twenty-year tenure, he has succeeded in giving the Kunstmuseum a clear, distinctive profile which is today perceived and acknowledged within the concert of international museums of modern and contemporary art. He has rendered extraordinary services in building the collection and establishing the international repute of Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein.
