“Points of View” by Tony Cragg.
|
MALAGA, SPAIN.- The city of Málaga presented the work “Points of View” by British artist Tony Cragg, the first urban sculpture of this artist in Málaga. The work is part of the "Málaga, Ciudad de Museo" (Málaga, City of Museum) municipal program. The work by Cragg represents a spiral that ends up in two human profiles that change their expressions with the perspective and that seem like clouds.
During the presentation of the work, mayor Francisco de la Torre, stated it is very important to have “a sample of one of the main creators of our time.” The sculpture is located in the Larios street. Some of the works by Tony Cragg were on exhibit at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo (CAC) de Málaga. The mayor thanked Cragg for giving the work to the city for around 90,000 euros, an amount much lower than the market value. Works by artists such as Miquel Navarro, Stephan Balkenhol, and Jaume Piensa have been installed in the city thanks to this program.
