Benaki Museum Presents David Hockney

ATHENS, GREECE.-The Benaki Museum presents David Hockney - Words and Images, on view through September 15, 2005. An exhibition of works from the collection of the British Council presenting, for the first time in Greece, 87 prints by David Hockney, one of the leading artists of the twentieth century. The exhibition focuses on the prints produced by Hockney in the nineteen sixties and the nineteen seventies, which were inspired by literature. David Hockney is a painter, engraver, photographer and set designer, and critics associate him with the Pop Art movement, an association which he himself repudiates. His works are characterised by economy of technique, constant concern about light and an honest, earthy realism.
