Lasar Segall At The MAM In Mexico |

MEXICO CITY.- An exhibition on the work of Lasar Segall, the Russian-Jewish artist who lived in Brazil, was just inaugurated at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico by the president of CONACULTA (National Council for the Arts and Culture), Sari Bermudez. The expressionist artist is considered as one of the most important painters of Brazilian modern art. The master works of Lasar Segall come to Mexico for the first time in a show that reunites 120 of his paintings. Lasar Segall was born in Lithuania on July 21, 1891. In 1906 he went to Berlin and later to Dresden to study art. In 1932 he moved to Brazil where he stayed until his death in 1957.
