PARIS, FRANCE.-The Louvre Museum presents From the Renaissance to the Baroque - A Collection of Italian Drawings for the Museums of France, on view through August 29, 2005. This exhibition of a collection of Italian drawings, acquired for the museums of France thanks to the generous support of the Carrefour Group, presents the Louvre with the opportunity to take visitors on a unique journey through Italian art from the 15 th to the 17 th century.
These rare and remarkable sheets encompass the full range of artistic activity of Italian painters and draughtsmen: preparatory studies for paintings and for biblical—or mythological—themed decoration projects, portraits, landscapes, architectural drawings, studies of the human form and animals. Curator(s) : Dominique Cordellier, senior curator in the Department of Prints of Drawings, Musée du Louvre.
