BERLIN, GERMANY.- At Deutsche Guggenheim, the 18th Long Night of the Museums will take place entirely in the light of the current exhibition Douglas Gordons The VANITY of Allegory. Vanitas, vanity, transformation, the self, and double identities are the central themes of the show curated by the Scottish artist Douglas Gordon.
Parallel to the show, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, Deutsche Guggenheim will present a transformation performance in the atrium of Deutsche Bank entitled Myself as... during which visitors can have make-up put on by professional make-up artists and turn into a different person, just like Andy Warhol used to do. A Polaroid snapshot will serve as a souvenir and can be taken home as ones very own work of art.
In addition, there will be special screenings of the following films in the exhibitions cinema: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Albert Lewin, (1945, 110 min, OV) at 8 p.m., Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Rouben Mamoulian (1931, 92 min, OV) at 10 p.m. and Stanley Kubricks A Clockwork Orange (1971, 131 min, OV with subtitles) at 11:45 p.m. On the Long Night of the Museums the show will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The café KAFFEEBANK will offer food and beverages.
