Importance of Parks and Recreation Sites

Parks and recreation sites should be present in all cities. They provide a safe place for residents of all ages. People can go to parks alone to relax and can take their families as well and spend good quality time with them. Many development programs focus on building such recreation sites in cities. This is because parks and other recreation areas provide a number of benefits.

Beneficial for Mental and Physical Health
Parks and green spaces like golf courses have proven to be healing spaces for people. Natural greenery improves mental health. You feel relaxed and at peace when you are present at such sites. Parks also provide jogging tracks where you can walk, jog or run to focus on your physical health. You can also play sports in parks and spend time with your family, friends and loved ones. You can go to parks and work on your hobbies. You can work on your sketches, or even practice your photography skills. You can add beautiful golf course images to your collection. All such activities boost your mental and physical health.

Role in Community Building and Family Bonding
Parks and recreation areas play a vital role in community building and family bonding. You can utilize parks and go on picnics with your friends and family. You can play sports together. Parks are sites where the whole community gathers to spend some time. This allows you to interact with people living in your locality. You can make new friends, develop new bonds and help each other out in this way.

Promote Outdoor Activities for Kids
At a time of technological advancements, kids these days are mostly seen busy with their electronic gadgets and spending most of their time indoors. Outdoor activities are extremely crucial for children. Parks provide a safe and clean environment where kids can go to play and indulge in sports and other such activities. These activities not only keep kids healthy but also teach them a variety of skills. For instance, sports teach you discipline, it improves your skills such as time-management, people-dealing, team work, leadership and so on.

Beneficial for the Environment
Parks are a habitat to several flora and fauna. They are green spaces. Hence, parks provide a place where trees are present in abundance. This proves to be extremely beneficial for the environment. Trees reduce pollutants in the air. Presence of trees also improves the harsh weather conditions by providing cooler weather.
Most importantly, creation of parks within urban spaces plays an essential role in mitigating the effects of climate change. Other than decreasing the temperature, parks also help in floodwater absorption, diverting the chances of urban flooding.
Thus, inclusion of green spaces makes cities secure and livable. To address the challenge of climate change, city planners must invest in developing and designing parks. The frequency of heatwaves across the globe also necessitates the inclusion of tree canopies and other shaded structure; this will provide adequate refuge to the citizens in such harsh climatic conditions.
