AMSTERDAM.- Affordable Art Fair will take place at de Kromhouthal in Amsterdam from Wednesday 26 October to Sunday 30 October. With thousands of contemporary artworks from over 70 local, national and international galleries and multiple live drawings and book signings, this 16th edition promises to be a dynamic and artistic adventure. Affordable Art Fair offers new and experienced collectors the chance to meet established and emerging artists, discover new perspectives and acquire fascinating, affordable works of art.

Special Projects

Affordable Art Fair takes shape and color in three special projects. The Dutch duo We are out of office, formed by Winneke de Groot and Felix van Dam, will be presenting a large still life installation. They are known for their bold and colorful paintings, ceramics and sculptures.

Secondly, the Brussels duo, L'Atelier de la Nuagerie's cloud-shaped light structures will be floating above the central bar. Their fluffy clouds, in all shapes and sizes, constantly take on different shades: from a sunrise to a sunset and from a flashing thunderstorm to a beating heart.

And finally, Selwyn Senatori, known for his cheerful installations and paintings, presents a large new neon installation and some smaller installations next to the small bar. During the vernissage on October 26 and during the Late Night on Thursday, October 27, Selwyn Senatori will do a live intervention by drawing and painting on almost anything he can get his hands on.

Late Nights

During the Late Nights on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 October, when Affordable Art Fair closes its doors at 21:30, some of the participating galleries will be hosting live paintings, artist interventions and book signings for you.

On Thursday there will be a live intervention by painter Selwyn Senatori (Kunsthuis Amsterdam). Selwyn Senatori has also invited the young and prominent Dutch tattoo artist Robin Carels to tattoo visitors at the fair. Selwyn will be the first to get a tattoo. There will be a performance by street artist Nasty (Singulart) who will paint on squashed cans, 100 of which will be sold exclusively during the fair. And Benjamin Martin (Thud Art) will be taking unique portraits of visitors with his old Hasselblad SQ6 camera that he has chopped in half and created a 3D printed cassette to hold a modern Fujifilm polaroid.

On Friday there will be a live drawing by the young Belgian artist Jules Wittock (Art Unity Gallery); Wittock draws labyrinths with acrylic paint on cotton canvases, each labyrinth has a solution that reveals a word. There will be two book signings. Annelies Damen signs Revealed (Art_020), a limited edition book containing an original archive photo; Ad Arma (Gallery in the Kerkstraat) signs his new book. The Luxembourgish artist Eric Mangen (Pop My Duke) will be doing a live painting. And finally, like Thursday, Benjamin Martin will be taking portraits of visitors (Thud Art).

Family Preview

On the morning of Saturday 29 October Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam is offering young parents a special opportunity to visit the fair. At ten in the morning, one hour earlier than usual, the fair will open its doors for the Family Preview. It is a unique moment for families with children and babies in their strollers to enjoy the fun of the fair in crowd-free and relaxed conditions.
