Finding Inspiration in Unlikely Places

You're an artist, but you feel like you've run out of inspiration. You're hoping to find the next soul-moving photo or art piece to share with the masses that will change how you view life. The problem is you're hoping this inspiration shows up in your backyard.

You know the truth: you must go out into the world to see something you've never seen before. Or, you must leave home for a while and come back to notice something you'd never noticed. Either way, you have to leave your comfort bubble.

Let's discuss ways to leave your comfort bubble and take work with you.

Getting Unplugged
Travel lets you gain a different perspective and learn something new. You can often find this new perspective in nature or places less touched by modernization. But how do you take your art with you wherever you go, especially if you find yourself backpacking or hiking?

If you're a digital artist, photographer, or videographer and stray too far from city amenities, you have to power your equipment on the go. The good news is it's not as complicated or expensive as you think. All you need is your equipment, chargers, and a solar generator for camping.

Solar energy allows you to go wherever you want whenever you want to and access electricity in more sustainable ways. You don't have to worry about connecting to a plug for at least a few hours. These devices are also more convenient than gas generators, which require being near a gas station to keep them fueled.

Working on the Go
Typical travel plans are exhausting: Booking a flight, waiting in airports and dealing with flight cancellations, renting a car, reserving a hotel room, etc. After this whole ordeal, there's no energy left in you to be creative with, no matter how beautiful the place is.

An alternative to flying is RV traveling. For the same daily price as a hotel would cost, you can rent an RV and have the freedom to travel and stop wherever you want. As long as you can fill up on gas and water, you'll always have a power source, somewhere to sleep, and somewhere to shower and cook. Even if gas is expensive, it will be cheaper than booking flights and renting cars.

Imagine driving alongside a beautiful natural oasis and setting up camp for the evening so you can connect with the scene. You wouldn't be able to do that easily with a car or by walking.

Getting Uncomfortable
The most effective way to get inspired is to see something you've never seen before. How do you do that? You have to put yourself in a position you've never been in previously. Obviously, never put yourself in a dangerous position. But, consider traveling somewhere you've never been or doing something you could never imagine yourself doing. You could do a recreational activity you've always been afraid to try or visit a place you've always been too overwhelmed to visit. See how people live in conditions that are unimaginable to you and hear their stories.
