ZURICH.- Galerie Eva Presenhuber announced the representation of the American artist Austin Eddy.

A new painting by Eddy will be featured in the gallery’s presentation at Art Basel Miami Beach 2022. His next solo exhibition with the gallery will be at Galerie Eva Presenhuber, Vienna in January 2024. In 2022, Eddy’s paintings were exhibited at Eva Presenhuber's showroom in New York and in Kastro on the island of Antiparos, Greece as a special summer project.

I have been observing Austin Eddy’s work for some years and am thrilled to announce that he has joined the gallery. An exceptional artist, Austin creates works that are rooted in art historical considerations—from early twentieth-century Cubism and Fauvism to Color Field Painting of the post-war years—but born of the present moment. His works are an amalgam of colors and shapes. The flattening of perspective and the distortion of scale serve to mine the depths of the lived experience. – Eva Presenhuber

Since 2018, the painter and sculptor Austin Eddy (*1986, Boston MA) has been reevaluating the dwindling conversations of modern painting in a world juxtaposed somewhere between abstraction and reality. Eddy’s evocative works playfully use brilliant colors, layered textures, vibrant bird motifs, and abstract planes of light, whilst all the while investigating loss and the fleeting passage of time that is the human condition. Perched on the edge of reality, his works are a visual poem celebrating the ephemeral moment that exists only for a second, before flying away into the past.

Austin Eddy (born in 1986 in Boston, MA, US) currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, US. He earned his BFA in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2010. Eddy previously has had a solo exhibition titled Sad Landscapes at Le Consortium, Académie Conti, La Romanée Conti, Dijon, FR (2022). Other recent exhibitions of his include 12.26 Gallery, Dallas, TX, US (2021); Eva Presenhuber, Private Showroom, New York, NY, US (2021); Baldwin Gallery, Aspen, CO, US (2020); Berggruen Gallery, San Francisco, CA, US (2020); Livie Fine Art, Zurich, CH (2021); Althuis Hofland Fine Arts, Amsterdam, NL (2020) and Knust Kunz, Munich, DE (2020).
