HONG KONG.- Poly Auction Hong Kong Spring Auctions 2023 will be held between 1 and 6 April at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Poly Auction Hong Kong is excited to offer a wide spectrum of rare masterpieces with the best inheritance value and market potential – paying homage to our collectors around the globe through this exquisite feast of art.

Led by Yoshitomo Nara’s Acid M. J. and Gerhard Richter’s Abstraktes Bild (607-2), the Modern and Contemporary Art Sale will bring the hottest art line-up and encapsulates a century of Asian art history at a time. The Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art Department meticulously selected a collection of treasures with impeccable provenance, including the headline lot A Blue and White ‘Lady’ Bowl, Chenghua Period, 1465-1487. The Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy Sale proudly showcases Wu Guanzhong’s Tall Trees in Snowy Mountains and assemble a selection of excellent works from all over the world. The Magnificent Jewels and Important Watches Sale will bring an avant-garde vision of collection and present a superb series of precious treasures – distinguished by Magnificent Imperial Jadeite Bangle and Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon Model, Circa 2015 – all set to dazzle this Spring Auctions. At the same time, the Noble Handbags and Hype Collectibles Sale will once again offer a remarkable collection of handbags with full potential, including A Rare Hermès Perspective Cavaliere Kellywood 22 and many more. The Rare Wine, Whisky and Chinese Tea Department is honoured to offer Hanyu Ichiro’s Malt Card Full Set, Kweichow Moutai 1959, Seven Pieces of Vintage Pu’er Tea Cakes, 1950s with superior quality, indulging all collector’s palate.

Modern and Contemporary Art

The Modern and Contemporary Art Auction will feature the top works from Europe to Asia, including works by Gerhard Richter, Yayoi Kusama, and Yoshitomo Nara. Gerhard Richter’s Abstraktes Bild (607-2) was created at the peak of his career in 1986, it is a masterpiece that combines all the techniques of abstraction and features strong lines and colours that exude vitality. Yoshitomo Nara’s Acid M. J. is a work that pays tribute to pop king Michael Jackson, and Cup Kids is the first sculpture made of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) by the artist. Yayoi Kusama’s Pumpkin is the largest red pumpkin work to appear on the auction market in the last five years, while Infinity Nets features rare gold and silver paint. Meanwhile, Ayako Rokkaku’s Little Girl with Animals will be offered. In addition, we have a special feature of first generation oil paintings by Chinese artists from half a century ago, making this a showcase of condensed Asian art history over the past hundred years. Other noteworthy works include Liu Guosong’s large ink paintings, rare works by Yuan Jai, and Xie Nanxing’s early figurative work Untitled (Ambiguous Flower No. 3). The auction also features Sunset at Village by Huang Yuxing that marked his turning point from figurative to abstraction, two representative works from different periods by Wei Jia, Liu Wei’s exploration work during the early stages of the Purple Air series, and works by Ma Ke, Zhang Yingnan and Fang Lijun can’t be missed.

Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art

The Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art Department assembles 200 delicate lots, presenting two significant auctions, “Qing: The Huaihaitang Collection” and “Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art”. The highlight lots – An Extremely Rare And Important Famille-Rose’ Dragon' Lantern Vase, Mark And Period Of Qianlong, and A Blue and White ‘Lady’ Bowl, Chenghua Period, 1465-1487 – are gaining the attention of the perspicacious collectors and will be offered exclusively. The sale highlights a collection of Ming and Qing porcelains from an important Hong Kong collector. In addition, Chinese antiques such as Ming and Qing jades, archaic porcelains and bronzes, and the art of scholars are treasures of antiquity not to be missed.




Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy

The Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy Department is pleased to present an array of calligraphy and painting works of collectors from Hong Kong, Taiwan, North America, South-East Asia and Australia. Highlighted by Wu Guanzhong’s Tall Trees in Snowy Mountains, the auction will continue to offer the collection of Wu Guanzhong’s works from Mr Wang Liangfu, an important collector in Hong Kong. In the modern section, works that reflect diverse themes across Zhang Daqian’s long career will be featured. Fu Baoshi’s masterpiece Boating by the Red Cliff from Mr Gu Yuxiu’s family collection, Xu Beihong’s epic work of anti- Japanese national salvation Lion and Li Keran’s Autumn Scenery will also be presented at the auction. In addition, Vimalakirti Sutra from Tang Dynasty will lead the classic section. The themed series “Between the Square Inch – Exquisite Into the Fan Topic” is also worth collectors’ attention, featuring fan painting art by famous artists – including Zhang Daqian, Wu Hufan, Pu Ru, Tian Shiguang and many more, showcasing their splendid talent in the works.

Magnificent Jewels and Important Watches

The Magnificent Jewels and Important Watches Department is ushering in a new start in 2023. This Spring Auctions, our specialist team is pleased to present about 200 exceptional lots, including a selection of precious jadeites, diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies and other magnificent jewels, as well as prestigious watches. Jewellery highlights include Magnificent Imperial Jadeite Bangle and A Magnificent 22.11 Carat Diamond. As for the important watches section, Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon Model, Circa 2015 will be offered and we are honoured to present A Rolex Platinum ,Diamond Ice Blue Day-Date, which will make its auction debut.

Noble Handbags and Hype Collectibles

The dedicated sale on luxury handbags and accessories will feature a collection with over 140 rare handbags from all over the world, including Hermès Rare Fauve Barenia Leather & Platanus Wood Perspective Cavaliere Kellywood 22, A Rare Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Kelly 25, the crowd favourites – A Limited Edition Rouge De Coeur Swift Leather & Osier Mini Picnic Kelly, as well as A Limited Edition Mauve Sylvestre, Chai, Nata & Lime Epsom Leather Kellydole Picto. The auction will also introduce Hype collectibles of famous artists, including KAWS, Banksy and Yoshitomo Nara, with an aim to integrate the living art into daily life and add more fun and fresh ideas to our life.
