Art Marketing Strategies: How to Promote Your Artworks

In this challenging market, many artists are reducing their art marketing expenses. However, it is crucial to seize the opportunity to promote your art business online using free marketing options and innovative methods.

When I say innovative, I mean free! There are numerous ways to market your art business for free, and as an artist, it's essential to leverage your skills now more than ever.

While these methods are free, they do require some time investment. But if taken seriously, they can be enjoyable, exciting, and ultimately rewarding.

Start a Blog
As an artist, starting a blog can bring you numerous benefits. It is an excellent tool to promote your personal brand, sell your artwork, and provide customer service. Your blog can also serve as a prime platform to connect with potential customers.

Perhaps you already have a website showcasing your art, pricing details, contact information, and some exciting videos. However, chances are, nobody is visiting your website because they are not aware of its existence! Creating a blog is the easiest way to drive traffic to your website.

To attract readers, write about topics that artists care about or that someone searching for an artist would look for on Google. The key is to make your blog about your readers, not yourself.

If you need assistance starting a blog, check out informative articles on FineArtTips.com, such as "5 Simple Steps to Start Your First Blog" and "8 Tips to Create a Great Blog Post."

Join a Social Media Network
To establish brand recognition for yourself and your art business, social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are the quickest means. A strong brand is invaluable and conveys credibility to potential customers, peers, and business associates.

Rest assured, social media is not a passing trend. It represents a fundamental shift in the way we communicate, transforming the rules of the marketplace.

Despite being a solitary occupation, artists need not feel isolated by social networking. These platforms offer opportunities to obtain instant feedback on your latest painting, attract thousands of visitors to your blog, seek critiques on your art, gain inspiration, or even sell a painting via Facebook. The possibilities are virtually limitless.

Create Your Own Videos
Did you know that after Google, YouTube is the second most popular search engine? Videos are an excellent way to share online content, and you don't need to be the next James Cameron to create an engaging video that attracts views and boosts traffic to your website or blog.

Additionally, videos offer a refreshing change from the standard blog post. Uploading your video to YouTube and then embedding it on your website will increase your site's traffic, leveraging the significant viewership that YouTube already attracts.

Create videos tailored to your target audience. For instance, if you specialize in watercolor painting, demonstrate how to master a specific technique. For inspiration on incorporating videos into your website, check out my video page. Also, for tips on creating excellent art videos, read "How Artists Can Use YouTube Video to Improve Marketing."

Guest Post on Other Blogs
Writing guest posts for other blogs is an excellent strategy to attract more traffic to your website and introduce your artwork to new readers. Find other artists who have blogs and inquire whether you can write a guest post for them. Offer to share an inspiring story, a how-to demonstration, or a helpful art tip.

Your guest post will feature a brief description of who you are and a link back to your website or blog. Blog owners often welcome guest posts because they enhance the value of their blog. By doing so, you will drive traffic to your site, potentially resulting in increased sales. This will also bolster your credibility as an artist and an expert in your field. To begin, you may submit a guest article to my blog, FineArtTips.com.

Join and Participate in Online Forums
Join your favorite art-related forums and become an active member of their online community. There are tons of forums and Q&A sites. You just have to find the ones that line up with your expertise. This is another great way to prove yourself as an expert, and once again drive traffic back to your website. People are always looking for answers online, why not let it be you they trust?

Publish Free eBooks
Why not utilize your expertise to create free eBooks on topics that interest artists and aspiring artists? This is an excellent marketing opportunity. By offering your eBooks for free, you greatly expand the number of individuals who will read them...free eBooks spread like wildfire on the internet.

Remember, your aim here is to raise awareness of your art and your art business, not to earn a quick buck. Be sure to incorporate your business logo and information in the eBook to remind individuals where it originated from.

Submit Your Blog Posts to Article Directories
Article directories are online platforms that enable individuals to submit their articles related to a specific niche at no cost. As with the previously mentioned methods, submitting your article to these directories enhances your reputation as an authority in the art industry, and ultimately directs potential customers to your website. Some of the most renowned and largest online article directories include ArtDaily, Squidoo, eHow, and Ezine Articles.

Make Comments on Other Art Blogs
Another effective strategy for building a network and driving traffic to your own blog is to leave comments on other blogs within your art niche or on blogs you enjoy. When you post a comment, you're likely to receive a reply and attract other readers to your site.
To get started, follow the top blogs in your niche and leave thoughtful, engaging comments that add value to the discussion. You can even include links to relevant posts on your own blog within your comment, which can pique the interest of other readers.

By commenting on other blogs, you not only increase your visibility within the art community but also have the opportunity to engage with other artists and potential customers. So take the time to read and comment on other blogs, and watch as your network and traffic grow.
