Varicose Vein Treatment & Spider Veins Treatment - UVC

Varicose veins or spider veins legs are pathological veins responsible for blood reflux downwards when standing and no longer ensuring their role in the blood return to the heart. Symptoms such as heaviness, pain or itching are frequently associated with it. In the absence of varicose vein treatment, the evolution is often towards an aggravation of these symptoms and the venous state.

At USA Vein Clinic, we treat your spider veins legs with non-invasive spider veins. Read below to find varicose vein treatment for you.

Why is spider veins treatment required?

● Depending on the duration of the spider veins' legs and their evolutionary potential, complications may occur:
● Pigmentation of the skin with a brown or ocher appearance, eczema, inflammation, weakening of the skin that can go as far as an ulcer;
● Superficial venous thrombosis (blood clots inside a varicose vein) which can more exceptionally extend to deep veins;
● The rupture of varicose veins with haemorrhage is rare but possible and sometimes severe, even in the absence of trauma.

Visual Sclerotherapy for Spider Veins Treatment

The objective of visual or ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy for varicose vein treatment is to gradually treat to remove the abnormal venous circuit that constitutes the varicose veins. Sclerotherapy for spider veins treatment is the most commonly used treatment for varicose veins because it can treat many types of varicose veins that are often difficult to access with other techniques. This procedure consists of injecting a specific sclerosing product into a varicose vein. The spider veins legs will then close and turn into a fibrous cord. In many cases, the vein will even disappear gradually. There is no need to fear a lack of veins after the treatment since it only concerns abnormal superficial veins and not the deep veins (central venous system).

The sclerosing product can be injected in its liquid form or the form of foam. Sclerosing foam is obtained by a mixture of gas and sclerosing liquid. Sclerosing foam has been widely used worldwide since the early 2000s (several tens of millions of sessions have already performed). The foam form makes it possible to increase the sclerosing effect and obtain better results more quickly, using fewer products. Its interest has been the subject of numerous international scientific publications.

Spider veins treatment process:

The varicose vein treatment involves injecting a sclerosing product directly into the varicose or spider veins legs using an excellent needle. The injections may cause a slight pinching, depending on your sensitivity and the injection site.

If the vein is not easily accessible or visible under the skin, sclerotherapy is performed under ultrasound guidance to improve the safety and precision of the injection.

Possible side effects and complications:

To limit complications, you must report your current treatments, allergies, personal or family history of thrombosis (phlebitis or pulmonary embolism) and cardiac history, aneurysm of the inter-auricular septum, endocarditis, impairment or replacement of valves, arrhythmias). It is also mandatory to report a desired or ongoing pregnancy.

Fairly standard, but minor side effects:

● Bruises at the injection sites: trivial. They disappear in 1 or 2 weeks;
● Residual pigmentation (ocher appearance of the skin): may persist for several months;
● Extension or formation of new telangiectasias: they most often disappear spontaneously in a few months or are subject to subsequent complementary treatment;
● Possible induration of the vein: can cause simple discomfort to the touch or even pain. This transient phenomenon reflects the excellent efficacy of the treatment. Pain may be relieved with warm water compresses, analgesic gel, anti-inflammatory medication, compression stockings and needle drainage of blood trapped inside the spider vein legs.

As with any spider veins treatment, sclerotherapy does not eliminate the patient's need for regular monitoring. It is a chronic and progressive disease, and repeated treatments may be necessary.
