Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, Hermes, 1994. Bronze.
|
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND.- Scottish sculptor Sir Eduardo Paolozzi left instructions to reward the institutions he attended, worked with or received honorary degrees from. The artist died on April, 2005. The institutions that will receive his works are: Glasgow University, Edinburgh University, Birmingham University, University College London, Edinburgh College of Art, the Royal College of Art in Kensington, the Slade School of Fine Art, the Akademie der Bildenden Kunste in Munich, and Edinburghs Royal Scottish Academy.
The Flowers East gallery in London is currently showings many of Eduardo Paolozzis works. This gallery represented the artist before his death. The gallery is now holding viewings with curators at the institutions to help decide where the works will go. Trustees from the Paolozzi Foundation will make the final decision as to where each work will go. Among the trustees are playwright David Hare, and fashion desiger Nicole Farhi.
Sir Colin Alexander St John Wilson, his executor, stated, He was extremely generous. He was constantly giving things away when he was alive. He also wanted the institutions he was associated with to have something. I have passed the job to the Paolozzi Foundation.
