Art and decorative items lead Roland Auction NY's two-part June 2nd & 3rd Estates Auction

GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY, in keeping with their new tradition of hosting two-part auctions over the last few months, will now present their “June /July Estates Sale” Part I on Friday, June 30th and Part 2 on Saturday, July 1st.

Part One will feature a wide array of fresh-to-market estate finds and moderately valued antique and modern furnishings, along with many unique decorative items. Highlights include a Simon Willard Roxbury Grandfather Clock, American tall case clock with fluted columns and bronze capitals. [92 H x 21 W x 10 D inches]. Estimate$10-$15,000, a Chaumet Paris Clock & Armillary Sphere Centerpiece, large elaborate presentation piece made of gilt metal, malachite and red porphyry, on octagonal shaped base, with four quartz movements. [9" H x 10" W x 10" D]. Estimate $1,200-$1,500, a patinated French Art Deco bronze lioness by Thomas Francois Cartier, signed lower right. [11" H x 20" W x 6 1/2" D]. Estimate $600-$800 and a Tall "Schneider, France" Vase, Good metal and glass mounted vase, signed to side, with twin applied black glass handles and three mounted glass "cherries" to base, internally decorated. Circa 1920s-30s. [20" H x 6" Diam.]. Estimate $500-$700.

Part Two will have a strong focus on Contemporary and Modern Art, which has done extremely well the last few months at Roland, while also offering hundreds of lots of Fine Art, Decorative Arts, 20th Century Modern, Antique & Vintage Furniture, Textiles, Silver, Gold and Silver Jewelry, Rugs, Collectibles, Asian Art and Decorative Arts, and Lighting. Taking the spotlight in the art arena will be a Georgette Chen (Chinese, 1907-1992): oil on canvas painting titled "Seaside" depicting a family scene with rowboats in a channel, signed lower right, titled on back and dated 1961. [Art: 15 1/2" H x 19 1/2" W; Frame: 23" H x 27 1/2" W]. Estimate $20-$30,000, a Walter Gay (American, 1856-1937) oil on canvas painting of an interior scene with grand design and decorations, signed lower right. [Art: 34" H x 27" W; Frame: 39 1/2" H x 32" W]. Estimated $10-$15,000. A Maynard Dixon (American, 1875-1946) “Mojave Desert" - oil on board painting of a landscape with rolling hills and trees, signed lower right and dated 1940. Noted on back: "Mojave Desert, Calif., Nov. 1940". [Art: 7 3/4" H x 11 3/4" W; Frame: 14 1/2" H x 18 1/2" W]. Estimate $8-$12,000 and a Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989) "Christ of St. John”, silvered bronze bas relief with niello of "Christ of St. John of the Cross," with engraved signature and edition "47/350". Engraved to verso "c. 1984 Gala pub. in conjunction with Glasgow Museum and Art Galleries". Provenance: Phyllis Lucas Gallery, NYC. [10 1/2" H x 5" W x 1 1/2" D]. Estimate $800-$1,200.

Also of note is a Yun Gee (Chinese/American, 1906-1963) oil on board study of a nude male, seated, signed upper left in English and Chinese, in "OG" wood frame. [Art: 19 1/2" H x 23 1/2" W; Frame: 27" H x 31" W]. Estimate $8-$12,000 and an Attributed to Thomas Hart Benton (American, 1889-1975) Rural Road - oil on board painting of a rural road by farmhouses with a farmer, signed lower right and dated '61. [Art: 17 1/2" H x 13" W; Frame: 25" H x 21" W]. Estimate$4-$6,000.

Decorative Arts include a Royal Copenhagen Flora Danica Tureen, Large, rare and impressive tureen with cover and stand with ladle en suite (marked "Martin"), the porcelain fully marked and titled. Estimate $7-$10,000 and a Jean-Marie Camus (French, 1877-1955) "Pan et Nymph" Bronze, original "Cire Perdue" (lost wax) method bronze group of a classic Art Deco subject, signed "Jean Camus" with foundry mark. [16" H x 25" W x 8" D]. Estimate $1,200-$1,500.

Top furniture pieces are an Italian Rococo Painted Commode, Genoa, mid-18th century, with later marble top, painted with floral trellis design on the front and stylized ruins on the sides. [35 1/2" H x 50 1/2" W x 25" D]. Estimate$4-$6,000 and a Chinese Chippendale-Style Corner Cabinet, 19th century English Chinese Chippendale-style carved mahogany large corner cabinet with lattice design and shell top. [96" H x 64" W x 30" D]. Estimate $1,500-$2,000.
