LONDON, ENGLAND.- Artists Natasha Kidd and Shaan Syed have won the first Celeste Art Prize worth £15,000. The sixty finalists voted for the fellow artist they considered pre-eminent in the exhibition at the Old Truman Brewery. So often subject to the opinions of others, the artist finalists have had the opportunity to decide who deserves the award money amongst their peer group. Over two thousand visitors came to view the week long exhibition (23rd-28th May). The Celeste Art Prize is an off shoot of the PremioCeleste which was founded in Italy in 2004 by Steven Music. Sara Pearce is the UK Organiser of the Celeste Art Prize and lives & works in London. She has been an Art Consultant since 1997 advising private individuals and corporate bodies on their collections. She is a Trustee of the South London Gallery and a member of The Art Fund's London Project Committee.
