BASEL, SWITZERLAND.- June 14-18 will mark the first edition of bâleLatina, a new art fair being held during Art Basel featuring the most distinctive and innovative latin artists worldwide. bâleLatina, endorsed by Sam Keller, Director of Art Basel, is an exciting addition to the Basel schedule. It will serve as an unparalleled cross culture platform presenting emerging contemporary Latin art to the international world. bâleLatina’s launch will take place in a climate where the art world’s most notable collectors, curators, and press will have the opportunity to view and evaluate the best of emerging Latin art.

bâleLatina will be held in ‘Brasilea’ Kulturhaus, an exhibition space conveniently located on the banks of the Rhine. The venue will consist of approximately sixteen galleries presenting painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, performance and digital art. The location also offers, five exterior installation spaces water, docks, crane and terrace- to present alternative projects.

The show’s host committee, "Amigos de bâleLatina", is comprised of prominent individuals in the international art community who have been supporting and/or collecting Latin art. The Basilea "La Terraza", at the rooftop, will serve as ideal setting for collectors, press, and fair participants to interact, relax, and simply enjoy the event while experiencing cocktails and tapas. bâleLatina will provide transportation from the other fairs, Art Basel, Liste, and Volta, to facilitate accessibility and easy circulation. This is an event not to be missed on the 2006 Basel calendar.
