PHILADELPHIA.- The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts presents the exhibit Elizabeth Leister: Every Body is Everywhere and Nowhere through August 20. Elizabeth Leister continues her ongoing exploration of the body and subjectivity in her latest video installation Every Body is Everywhere and Nowhere in the Morris Gallery—the Pennsylvania Academy’s program devoted to contemporary art. Having recently moved from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, Leister still feels connected to the life she left behind. “I have been thinking about how to create a link between these two locations and times during the run of my exhibition.” Aside from the very “real” fact of dislocation, Leister is also interested in the myriad ways 21st century people are often alienated from themselves, others, and a sense of place.

Employing new digital technologies, Leister will facilitate her virtual presence in the Morris Gallery, despite her physical absence. Leister received an M.F.A. in sculpture from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College and a B.F.A. in painting from Tyler School of Art. Her work has shown at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Delaware Museum of Art (Wilmington), North Dakota Museum of Art (Grand Forks), and Art in General and P.S. 122 (New York), among others.

Elizabeth Leister: Every Body is Everywhere and Nowhere is made possible through the generous support of The William Penn Foundation.
