NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s live auction Latin American Art concluded on 28 September 2023. This dedicated sale of Latin American Art featured exceptional works of art by the foremost modern and contemporary artists from the region. The sale saw lively, spirited bidding throughout, with bidders in the room, on the phone, and online. In total, the sale achieved $13,200,030, selling for 102% of its low estimate.

The top lot of the sale was Rufino Tamayo’s Los tres amigos, which realized $1,623,000, more than 160% its low estimate. Other top lots from the sale include two works by the iconic Fernando Botero: En la plaza, which realized $1,332,600, and Man Eating, which realized $1,071,000. Another highlight was Diego Rivera’s Retrato de Anita Antunes (Diana Cazadora), which realized $693,000.

Christie’s online sale of Latin American Art remains open for bidding through 5 October, featuring art from the colonial era through contemporary at a range of accessible price points. The private selling exhibition, Historias/Histories, is also available for view at Christie’s New York through 20 October.
