ALAMEDA, CA.- Michaan’s Auctions December Gallery on Friday, December 15th, features numerous exciting historical items from our sports memorabilia department in addition to fine examples from jewelry and fine art. The auction is led by two autographed baseballs, a 1937 All-Star Multi-Signed Baseball featuring Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio, as well as a Michael Jordan signed Bulls Jersey. Also included is a Juvenia yellow gold wristwatch, Reed and Barton Marlborough silver flatware set, and an untitled work by experimental ceramicist John Mason.

The auction is led by a 1937 All-Star Multi-Signed Baseball ($8/12,000) featuring the signatures of New York Yankee all-time greats Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, and 19 other players. Also on offer, is a 1956 Cleveland Indians Autographed Team Ball ($1/1,500), featuring numerous Cleveland Guardian Hall of Fame members including Rocky Colavito, Al Rosen, and Herb Score. Both baseballs are PSA/DNA certified.

Finally, a Michael Jordan signed Bulls Jersey in a Framed Shadow Box ($2/4,000) will be offered, this jersey boasting a crisp and clear Michael Jordan autograph from the 2009 Hall of Famer.

The Jewelry department is happy to feature several excellent examples. Headlined by a Jean Perret 18k Yellow Gold Wristwatch ($2/3,000) from noted Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Jean Perret Montres SA, this timepiece is an exquisite example of Swiss engineering and design prowess. The department is also offering a Diamond, 14k Yellow Gold Ring ($5/7,000) which features a GIA report indicating VVS1 clarity and a F color grade, and a Sapphire, Diamond, 14k Yellow Gold Pendant Necklace ($8/1,200) with a round brilliant-cut diamond pendant over 2.00 cts. The sale will feature a number of men’s rings and jewelry in this sale, most featuring diamonds of various carat sizes.

Our Furniture and Decorative department is highlighting a Louis XVI Gilt Brass Mounted Mahogany Bureau à Cylinder ($5/5,500). Dated to the late 18th century, this intricately constructed bureau features an elegant design, luxury marble top, and historical relevance. Also, on offer this December is a Reed and Barton Marlborough Sterling Silver Flatware Set ($1,8/2,500). While Reed and Barton Marlborough, a prominent silverware manufacturer from Massachusetts, is now defunct, their products continue to be used in prominent places across the country, most notably in the White House.

The Fine Art department is excited to announce the sale of John Mason’s “Untitled,” glazed ceramic plate ($750/1,200), an excellent example from the experimental ceramics artist that highlights his dedication to the plasticity of the medium. Also available will be a Framed Painting by Charles Wysocki “Vermont Springtime” ($7/10,000), and a Framed Painting by Charles Wysocki “Vermont Wintertime” ($6/8,000), each of which is an excellent example of the American artist idealized visions of historic America.

The Asian Art department will be offering two excellent Chinese Painted Hanging Scrolls titled “Buddhist Painting of Deities” ($1/1,500), as well as a Chinese Painted Hanging Scroll titled “Taoist Painting of Deities” ($1/1,500). The department is also featuring several ceramic items including a Chinese Famille-Verte 'Zhong Kui' Vase ($6/800), Two Chinese Porcelain Brushpots ($5/800), and a Chinese Export Canton Famille Rose Bottle Vase ($4/600).

Michaan’s Auctions Winter Fine Sale on Thursday, December 14th, features notable names leading the fine art, decorative, and jewelry departments. BANKSY’s 2004 screen print “Barcode” headlines a sale featuring Tiffany Studios Bronze Lamp and Wisteria Table Screen, wristwatches by Omega and Hublot, and a brooch attributed to Suzanne Belperron.
