Chicago Cultural Center, Preston Bradley Hall.

CHICAGO.- The Chicago Cultural Center opened the exhibit Brazilian Naïve Art from the SESC Collection through August 13. A new exhibition of glorious works, Brazilian Naive Art from the SESC Collection, includes a sampling of 41 award winning works presented during the Biennials of Naive Art from Brazil hosted by Serviço Social do Comércio (SESC) in Piracicaba, Brazil, between 1992 and 2002. This lively and colorful selection of paintings pulls together a wide range of representative artists from different regions of Brazil, working in various naive styles and addressing different subjects, primarily related to Brazilian culture and traditions. The works show the artists simplistic and primitive style and use of joyously vibrant colors.
The public is invited to learn more about the exhibition. A gallery talk with Sofia Zutautas, Assistant Curator of Exhibitions for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, will be held in the gallery on Thursday, August 10 at 12:15 p.m.
Brazilian Naive Art from the SESC Collection is organized by SESC and presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs with assistance from the São Paulo/Illinois Partners of the Americas. Transportation support for this exhibition is generously provided by United Airlines Cargo. SESC is a not for profit, private organization of national scope with the goal of securing social well being and improved quality of life and cultural development for commerce and service workers and their families in particular, and society as a whole in general.
