HOUSTON, TX.- The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston presents the exhibit Norman Rockwell, The Problem We All Live With Best known for his covers of the Saturday Evening Post, American artist Norman Rockwell (18941978) also provided illustrations for Look magazine. His first Look cover assignment was this painting of a 6-year-old African-American girl being escorted by U.S. marshals to her first day at an all-white New Orleans elementary school. Ordered to proceed with school desegregation after the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education ruling, Louisiana delayed until pressure from Federal Judge Skelly Wright forced the school board to begin desegregation in 1960.
