GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY is presenting its Post-War & Contemporary Auction Tuesday, February 20th at 11am. As Roland has done very well this past year especially in the areas of Modern and Contemporary Art, one of Roland’s most popular arenas, this sale will offer an eclectic selection of art from multiple estates, along with Decorative ArtsAntique & Vintage Furniture, Textiles, Silver, Gold and Jewelry, Asian Art and more. Previews for the February 20th auction will take place from 10am - 6pm Monday, February 12th - Friday, February 16th and by appointment.

The first 50 lots in our Modern, Post-War & Contemporary Auction are featured pieces from the collection of notorious New York Art Dealer Ezra Chowaiki, who was convicted of wire fraud in 2018 and served 18 months in prison. These will include a Jaime Hayon (Spanish, b. 1974): Stacked Enamel & Ceramic Sculpture, large standing sculpture consisting of five blue stacked enameled ceramic elements with a white conical top, circa 2003-06. Comes with a white enameled ceramic base for stacking. Featured in Miami Art Basel 2003, Hayon refers to the installation as "a metamorphic fragile traditional ceramic forest". [Sculpture, approx.: 80" H x 33" W; Base:15" H x 19" Diam.]. Estimate $7,500-$10,000, the Jaime Hayon (Spanish, b. 1974): Stacked Enamel & Ceramic Sculpture, two large standing sculptures consisting of three stacked enameled ceramic elements, one in yellow and one in black, circa 2003-06. Each comes with base for stacking. Featured in Miami Art Basel 2003, Hayon refers to the installation as "a metamorphic fragile traditional ceramic forest". [Yellow, approx.: 64" H x 31" Diam.; Each section: 15" H x 31" Diam. / Black, approx.: 51" H x 21" Diam.; Each section: 15" H x 21" Diam. / Bases: 15 1/4" H]. Sculptures are likely incomplete. Estimate $7,500-$10,000, an Ernesto Neto (Brazilian, b. 1964) "Body Soul" - Ink on Paper, minimalist ink on paper titled "Body Soul," pencil signed and dated lower right, 1995. Unframed. [40" H x 28" W x 2" D]. Estimate $2,000-$3,000 and an Edwina Sandys: Cow Parade 2000 – Sculpture, A colorful book-covered painted fiberglass cow sculpture. Created for Cow Parade 2000, the world's largest public art event, by Winston Churchill's granddaughter, Edwina Sandys (English, b. 1938). [58" H x 90" W x 24" D]. Estimate $6,000-$8,000.

Other notables from the Ezra Chowaiki collection being presented are the Bjorn Schulke (German, b. 1967): "Supersonic #5" - Fiberglass Sculpture, sculpture made of fiberglass and electrical components titled "Supersonic #5," 2012. Portraying an animist world-view, Schulke's work is characterized by its lively interior consciousness. His sculptures often possess irrational character traits or distinctive emotional features, which are revealed through a cycle of behavior. Evoking artificial intelligence and the modern aesthetics of a research station, Supersonic #5 hybridizes the shape of a zeppelin airship with the stance of a bull. (Bitforms Gallery, 2012). [40" H x 48" W x 40" D]. Estimate $2,000-$3,000, an After Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987), Cream of Mushroom Soup Can, Vintage Sunday B. Morning screenprint depicting Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup Can, signed to verso and numbered, 33/250. [Sight: 34" H x 21" W; Frame: 41" H x 28" W]. Estimate $1,500-$2,500 and a - Robert Lazzarini (American, b. 1965): "Skull" resin, bone, and pigment sculpture of an amorphic skull, reminiscent of that in Hans Holbein's The Ambassadors, titled "Skull," 2000. With metal plate for wall mounting. [Overall: 10" H x 9" W x 6" D]. Estimate $4,000-$6,000, along with an After Keith Haring: Figures - Acrylic on Canvas, Framed acrylic on canvas painting in orange and black depicting abstract figures after Keith Haring (American, 1958-1990). [Frame: 40 1/2" Diam.]. Estimate $300-$400.

Contemporary Art from other estates include a Ushio Shinohara (Japanese, b. 1932), Set of Six Large Oils on Canvas 1982, depicting abstract studies in many colors, shapes, and figures. Signed and dated 1982 lower right. Sticker on back reads "CB230."[Each panel: 49" x 95"; Frame: 50" x 96"]. Estimate $15,000-$20,000, an After Alexander Calder (American, 1898-1976): Modern Tapestry, Modern tapestry, edition # "96/100" "CA 75" with label "Hecho En Guatemala" (Made in Guatemala). [56" H x 84" W]. Estimate ($15,000-$20,000), a Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1951) color lithograph, circa 1951, "Tete du Roi" (Head of the King", signed in the plate 108/700 . [Image: 18 3/4" H x 15 1/4" W; Frame: 24 5/8" H x 20 1/2" W]. Estimate $3,000-$4,000 and a Bert Stern: Marilyn Monroe - C-Print, from "The Last Sitting", depicting Marilyn Monroe in a waist-length full profile pose biting a yellow and white striped sheer scarf, signed bottom right in red grease pencil "Stern" and numbered 15/36 at left. Verso bears a second Stern signature with a "Bert Stern Studio" stamp and inscribed date "2013". Mounted on foamcore board. [40" x 40"]. Estimate $2,000-$4,000, along with a Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989) "Triomphale" - Limited Edition Daum plate titled "Triomphale" made of blue Pate-de-Verre textured glass with raised gilt highlights,1970. Dali signature etched to lower rim, with "Daum - Made in France" and edition etched to underside, 259/2000. Comes with a Daum Certificate of Authenticity and the original numbered box. Provenance: Phyllis Lucas Gallery, NYC. [Plate: 10 1/2" Diam.]. Plate in excellent condition. Estimate $2,000-$4,000.
