EAST LANSING, MI.- The 7th annual Twilight in the Garden, hosted by the Friends of Kresge Art Museum, will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2006, at the elegant James B. Henry Center for Executive Development, adjacent to the University Club. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and conversation underscored by the classical music of Lansing Symphony Orchestra’s String Quartet. Chat with MSU art professors and featured artists Jim Fagan and Jim Lawton. Bid on a fabulous array of silent auction items including exceptional jewelry, travel packages, home accents, sports, concert, and theatre tickets, gift certificates, "day with an artist" sessions, autographed memorabilia, as well as a generous selection of art of various types and media by Michigan artists. Then dine on a delicious gourmet meal and dessert prepared by the University Club chefs, followed by a spirited live auction conducted by WKAR radio personality and host of QuizBusters Matt Ottinger.

Honorary Chairs for Twilight are MSU Provost Kim Wilcox, MSU Trustee Dolores Cook, Lansing Delta Township General Motors Plant Manager Randy Thayer, and their spouses. Major sponsors are General Motors and Jackson National Life Insurance Company.

“I believe that Twilight shows our community that support of the arts is alive and well and gives Friends of Kresge and the Lansing area an opportunity to demonstrate that support in a positive way,” says Friends of Kresge Board of Directors President and Twilight Sponsorship Committee Chair Elinor Holbrook. “This year is unique. There are five sponsorship levels—each named after an artist who is in the Kresge collection. Sponsors have the option of sponsoring an artist who has donated a work to the Twilight auction. In 2005, there were more than 40 pieces of fine art donated just for the event and all of them sold! You just gotta have art!”

Twilight in the Garden promises to be a premiere event of the season and a signature event for art lovers. Reservations start at $100. For a reservation or more information, please call (517) 353-9834 or visit www.artmuseum.msu.edu/twilight. A preview of the auction items are available on the website to plan bidding. All proceeds benefit the Kresge Art Museum Facilities Fund for a Better Art Museum. For more information about Kresge's building campaign, please visit www.artmuseum.msu.edu/bam.
