NEW YORK, NY.- Luxury Week continues at Christie’s with the Magnificent Jewels auction on Tuesday. The live sale took place at Christie’s Rockefeller Center, in the heart of Manhattan with lively bidding on the phones, in the room, and online. The sale achieved a total of $44.4 Million, with 90% of the 144 lots sold. The auction featured a dazzling array of rare diamonds, notable colored stones and a stunning assemblage of jewelry from the most important houses such as Bulgari, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and Van Cleef & Arpels.

The sale’s top lot was The Eden Rose, a 10.20 carat Round Brilliant Fancy Intense Pink Diamond, which sold for $13.3 Million, exceeding its high estimate. The auction saw strong participation, with bids coming from around the globe, including 51% from Americas, 24% Europe and 26% from Asia Pacific and Middle East.

Rahul Kadakia, Christie’s International Head of Jewelry says: “Christie’s were proud to present The Eden Rose this spring, an extraordinary gem which had never before been offered at auction. The 10.20 carat Fancy Intense Pink Internally Flawless gem surpassed all expectations, fetching an impressive $13.3 million, well beyond its high estimate. Collectors participated actively in all areas of the sale, paying strong prices for rare colored gemstones and natural pearls in particular. We look forward to the end of our spring jewelry sale season with New York Jewels Online and Joaillerie Paris both taking place in June.”

Strong results were achieved throughout the sale for colored diamonds and colored stones including An Important Colored Diamond and Diamond Pendant Necklace which sold for $2,167,500, a Fancy Vivid Blue Heart Modified Brilliant-Cut Diamond of 2.28 carats which achieved $2,107,000.

Outstanding results were seen throughout the sale for natural pearls, with multiple lots exceeding their high estimates including a Natural Pearl, Cultured Pearl and Diamond Necklace which achieved $378,000, five times its high estimate of $50,000 and a pair of Natural Pearl and Diamond Earrings which sold for $277,200, almost ten times the high estimate of $30,000.

Additional noteworthy results were achieved for lots featured from distinguished collections including Beauty in Design: Magnificent Jewelry from the Collection of Sunny Crawford von Bulow and Ala von Auersperg Isham. An Exquisite Van Cleef & Arpels Carved Emerald, Ruby And Diamond Necklace sold for $289,800, and an Art Deco Natural Pearl, Cultured Pearl and Diamond Necklace which achieved $302,400 against a low estimate of $100,000.
