LISSE.- The LAM museum has created the perfect recipe for summer: an art collection all about food and drink combined with unique flavours that add a special twist to the viewing experience. During the summer holidays, visitors will be able to enjoy a sensory feast for both their eyes and their taste buds. What does the artwork taste like? Do you notice different details when you add flavour? How does taste affect sight and vice versa?

Experience Taste a Work of Art between 13 July and 1 September 2024 at the LAM museum on the Keukenhof Estate in Lisse, the Netherlands.

A CROWD FAVOURITE

Taste a Work of Art is a genuine LAM creation, conceived and developed in-house. The museum first introduced this multisensory experience in 2019, and visitors have been requesting its return ever since. This summer, the LAM museum has expanded and enhanced the concept. Four flavours have been developed in partnership with Amsterdam-based artisanal sweet maker Papabubble to complement the museum’s works of art.

SEE WITH YOUR TASTE BUDS

Each room in the museum introduces visitors to a flavour that has been paired with one or more works of art. Every sense — sight, touch, smell, taste — is activated. Visitors will find that their eyes are never impartial, and taste influences your art experience. The flavours allow different details to come to light, letting you enjoy a work of art in a completely new way. Even the shape of what’s in your mouth affects what you see.

SUMMER VIBES

The multisensory journey at the LAM museum concludes with a taste of the summer holidays. The museum asked Papabubble to create a pastille that captures the saltiness of a dip in the sea, the coconut scent of sunscreen and the sweetness of popular summer fruits like pineapple and peach. And instead of pairing it with a specific work of art, the museum lets visitors decide for themselves which work of art goes with this flavour. Summer vibes guaranteed!

A SIMPLY SPECIAL MUSEUM

With its international art collection dedicated to food and consumption, the LAM museum on the Keukenhof Estate in Lisse offers fresh perspectives on everyday activities like eating, drinking and shopping. Among the many other renowned artists with works on show are Ron Mueck, Kathleen Ryan, Itamar Gilboa, Magali Reus, Yinka Shonibare and Liu Bolin. The LAM museum features the largest collection of food art in the world. The unique Viewing Coaches bring each work of art to life by offering visitors personalised viewing tips.
