GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY August 24th, 2024 Multi-Estates auction offered an eclectic mix of contemporary art and decorative arts of all kinds including oil paintings, prints, photographs, bronze, porcelain & ceramic and more, featuring hundreds of lots in these areas, along with Antique & Vintage Furniture, Textiles, Rugs Collectibles and Asian items,

But some of the highest selling items at the sale were in the musical instrument category. Top sellers in the music arena were a Steinway & Sons Ebonized Upright Piano and bench, Model 100, Serial No. 359240 and further marked N1179, circa 1958. [42" H x 59" W x 23 1/2" D], sold for $5312, along with an Erard antique Giltwood & Mahogany Harp, [67" H x 35" W x 16" D]. Requires restoration; in distressed condition with numerous losses to strings, giltwood and carving, selling for $1500.


5-piece Reed & Barton sterling silver teacoffee set in Hampton Court pattern. Sold for $2125.

Silver also made a showing with a 73-Pc. Gorham Sterling Silver Flatware Set, partial flatware set in "La Scala" pattern, comprising 12 dinner knives, 12 dinner forks, 12 salad forks, 12 teaspoons, 10 tablespoons, 2 soup spoons, 9 butter knives, 2 serving pieces and 2 shrimp forks. 86 ozt. weighable silver, selling for $2250, while a 5-piece Reed & Barton sterling silver tea/coffee set in Hampton Court pattern, comprising a coffee pot, teapot, creamer, open bowl and covered sugar bowl, on a Reed & Barton silver plate tray in Victorian pattern. 83 ozt. inclusive. [Tray: 28" x 18"; Coffee pot: 9" H], went for $2125.

Jean Arp Tete de Bouteille... Silver & Stone Necklace. Sold for $2500.

In addition, a very unique Jean Arp "Tete de Bouteille..." Silver & Stone Necklace, "Tête de Bouteille et Moustache" necklace designed by Jean (Hans) Arp (German/French, 1886-1966), produced by Peter Ein-Hod, made in Israel, 1966, in silver with semi-precious stones. Stamped "Design by Arp", numbered 12/100 and stamped "Peter Ein-Hod, Made in Israel, St 925". Collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, reproduced by the Museum of Modern Art. South African Krugerrand, 1978. Sold for $2500.

In other areas, bidding quickly shot up on a rare South African Krugerrand, 1978, one ounce of pure gold. Actual weight 33.9 grams, which sold for $2500, a Pair of Georgian-Style Pine Bookcases, the cabinets with glazed doors above cupboard doors; can be joined to form one large cabinet. [90" H x 38" W x 18" D], sold for $2500 and a rare Art Deco Model Train Desktop Sculpture, modeled as a vintage travel/railway paperweight with Streamline Moderne outline and industrial gear detail. [4 3/4" H x 10 1/4" W x 4 1/2" D], went for $1500.
