MEMPHIS.- Memphis Brooks Museum of Art presents The Masterpieces from an English Country House: The Fitzwilliam Collection, on view through December 3, 2006. Organized by the Chrysler Museum, Norfolk, Virginia. Including spectacular masterpieces from Anthony van Dyck, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Claude Lorraine, and Salomon van Ruysdael, this exhibition celebrates a great English family collection from its origins in the 17th-century to the present day. The show comprises thirty-two superb Old Master paintings, with extraordinary works by Flemish, English, Dutch, French, and Italian artists, as well as a full set of Audubons Birds of America, and a selection of decorative arts, including Wedgewood.
