GLEN COVE, NY.- An eclectic collection of fine men’s watches got all the attention, and the top bids, at Roland Auctions NY Estates Auction held on Saturday, September 21st, with the focus on this watch collection featuring about 100 lots, combined with antique furniture, contemporary and fine art, decorative items of all kinds, textiles, jewelry, rugs, collectibles and Asian items.


Patek Philippe 18K Yellow Gold Dress Watch. Sold for $11,250.


Getting a lot of pre-auction attention, Roland offered an A F.P. Journe Souverain Chronometre, 18K yellow gold manual wind power reserve wristwatch having a grey dial and a black leather band. No. 614-CS. Comes with Laco box. 18K Gold Watch, which sold for $40,625, a Patek Philippe Gondolo 18K Gold Dress Watch, 18K yellow gold manual wind dress wristwatch having a grey dial and a brown leather band. Ref. 5111J. With catalog and receipt of sale. Comes with Laco box. which sold for $12,500, a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronometer Watch, stainless steel automatic wristwatch having a blue date dial and steel band. Ref. No. 42050, selling for $9,375, a Patek Philippe 18K Yellow Gold Dress Watch, A Patek Philippe 18K yellow gold manual wind dress wristwatch having a tan dial and a black leather band. Ref. No. 3923/J. Comes with box, going for $11,250 and an IWC Schaffhausen Ingenieur Chronometer Watch, Black T-Dial stainless steel automatic wristwatch having a black date dial and stainless steel band, 22mm face diameter, 2641851, selling for $5,625.

In the Art arena, Roland presented an Italian School: Madonna & Child – oil on wood panel painting, 17th/18th century interior Renaissance scene, "The Bartolini Tondo", after Filippo Lippi (Italian, 1406-1469) depicting scenes from the life of St. Anne, the mother of Mary, seated with the Christ child on a throne, in an elaborately carved Baroque giltwood and sgraffito frame. The original is in the Galleria Palatina, Palazzo Pitti, Florence. [Frame: 51" H x 31 1/2" W; Art 21 1/2"H x 16 7/8"W], which sold for $8,125 and a Georgy Bashinzhagyan (Armenian, 1857-1925) Landscape - unframed oil on canvas painting, dated 1911, of a landscape with river and cottages, signed and dated lower right. [31" H x 50" W]. going for $5937.

In other areas, a set of Smith & Watson Mahogany Dining Chairs, Set of twelve (12) Georgian mahogany dining chairs, the "Hepplewhite Wheelback" side chairs with spider web backs and rosette details, upholstered in Verasetta apple green wool satin, with custom gimp by Christopher Hyland. [38" H x 23" W x 19" D], sold for $8,125, while an Asian Bronze Figural, Chinese/Japanese bronze figural censer, in the archaic manner, modeled as a mythological beast, possibly a tapir, with gilt decoration. [6 1/4" H x 7" W x 3" D], sold for $3750.
