PARIS.- For the 2024 edition of Art Basel Paris, Almine Rech proposes an intergenerational group exhibition, featuring works of Estates and artists.

The show will include works by Joël Andrianomearisoa, Farah Atassi, Oliver Beer, Matthias Bitzer, Jenny Brosinski, Brian Calvin, Ali Cherri, Ha Chong- Hyun, George Condo, Johan Creten, Sasha Ferré, Françoise Gilot, Jameson Green, Alexandre Lenoir, Inès Longevial, Tomokazu Matsuyama, Pablo Picasso, Serge Poliakoff, Nathaniel Mary Quinn, Kenny Scharf, Vaughn Spann, Nicolas de Staël, Claire Tabouret, Thu-Van Tran, Kim Tschang-Yeul, Tom Wesselmann, and Zio Ziegler.

Ali Cherri (b. 1976, Beirut, Lebanon)

Ali Cherri holds three decades of artistic practice behind him, spanning film, performance, sculpture - in clay and bronze -, drawing and installation, interrogating the ways in which political violence permeates people’s bodies and the physical and cultural landscape. Shaped by the vibrant art scene of post-war Beirut in the 1990s, Cherri began to investigate the sensory co-production of reality between images of conflict, the urban fabric and his own body.

Vaughn Spann (b. 1992, Florida, USA)

Vaughn Spann devotes his practice to abstraction and figuration as an investigation into space, time and memory. He locates subjects from deeply personal spaces as he reconciles with his body within and out of the studio. With a deep admiration for formalism, he enjoys approaching paintings through the lens of color, line, and shape, but seemingly understands that one's subjectivity can't simply be divorced from the studio. For him, a form is a striking means of generating content in ways that are compelling. His formal investigation permeates throughout his paintings, symbolically reflecting his encounters with diverse people and places. Through his well-known stylistic separations, Spann continues to vigorously experiment with unconventional materials and expands on his personal and historical narratives.

Tom Wesselmann (b. 1931, Cincinnati, USA – d. 2004, New York, USA)

Tom Wesselmann was one of the leading American Pop artists of the 1960s. Departing from Abstract Expressionism, he explored classical representations of the nude, still life, and landscape, while incorporating everyday objects and advertising ephemera.
Tom Wesselmann emerged as a pivotal figure in the American Pop Art movement of the 1960s, setting aside abstract expressionism to embrace classical representations. His art, particularly in nudes, still lifes, and landscapes, carved out a unique niche with its integration of collage elements and assemblages.
