David Drebin's Limited Edition Artworks explore that fascinating space between who we are and who we dream of becoming. Its like when youre reaching out to grab something in a dream, but it slips away just as you wake up.
For his latest, and probably most personal project, Drebin set his camera aside. He asked himself, How can I help people uncover their hidden strengths? So, he wandered into Manhattans Washington Square Park with a simple sign:
Free Readings (Who You Really Are).
Drebin just looked straight into peoples eyes and told them what he saw.
It takes a lot of confidence to believe you can read someone just by looking at them. But it takes even more courage to let a complete stranger tell you who you areand admit they might be right. You think youve got yourself all figured out? Maybe not. How does he know that about me? What should I do now? With this project, Drebin has managed to strike a deep chord. Hes not just revealing othershes discovering parts of himself, too.
