NEW YORK, NY.- This week at Sotheby’s New York, The GOAT Collection: Watches and Treasures from Tom Brady brought a total of $9 million, with all 41 lots sold. Offering a unique glimpse into a side of him that many fans might not know - one of an aesthete as well as an athlete - the white-glove sale attracted more than 800 participants, drawn, no doubt, by the allure of the property and the exceptional provenance.

STANDOUT MOMENTS FROM TONIGHT’S AUCTION

An exceedingly rare yellow gold Rolex Daytona Paul Newman 'John Player Special' from 1969 won top lot of the sale at $1.1 million (est. $600,000 - 900,000), selling to a client in the room. Brady was first seen wearing the wristwatch at the start of the 2023 football season, during a special ceremony at Gillette Stadium where the New England Patriots honored the legendary quarterback at their home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. During the halftime ceremony, team owner Robert Kraft announced that Brady would be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame the following June. Fittingly, Brady wore this iconic timepiece to match the moment, an iconic watch for an iconic quarterback.

Four collectors battled for a piece of Brady’s early football career, as his Michigan ‘Final College’ game-worn jersey achieved $792,000 over the course of nearly five minutes (est. $300,000 - 500,000). Brady’s final game at the University of Michigan remains one of the most memorable performances of his college career. The 2000 FedEx Orange Bowl featured Brady’s Michigan Wolverines against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the first Orange Bowl ever to reach overtime. This game is often seen as a pivotal moment in Brady's journey, offering a glimpse of the greatness that lay ahead. In a thrilling 35-34 victory, Brady dazzled with 369 passing yards and four touchdowns. He completed 34 of 46 passes, a performance that ranked third in Michigan’s history at the time and still holds a spot in the program’s top 10.

A piece unique white gold and diamond-set flying tourbillon Royal Oak by Audemars Piguet sold to an online bidder for $720,000 (est. $400,000 - 800,000). Owned and worn by Brady in Netflix’s Greatest Roast of All Time: The Roast of Tom Brady, the watch features an elegant salmon dial with a tapisserie evolutive pattern radiating asymmetrically from the tourbillon. Designed specifically for Brady, the dial replaces standard indices with his name set in calibré-cut and baguette diamonds, with the number seven in Roman numerals symbolizing his seven Super Bowl victories. Through the sapphire crystal case back, a custom rotor bearing Tom Brady’s signature is visible.

Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers Game Worn Jersey in which he broke the NFL record for all-time career passing yards sold for $504,000 to an online bidder (est. $400,000 - 600,000). In October 2021, Brady returned to face the New England Patriots – the franchise that drafted him and helped forge his legendary status. This time, he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback victory. The football used during that same game also sold tonight to an online bidder for $216,000 (est. $80,000 - 120,000).

• Enthusiastic bidding was witnessed for Brady’s wristband from “The Comeback” game, as 4 bidders drove the final price to $204,000 (est. $120,000 - 180,000). Possibly the most famed comeback in sports history, the New England Patriots’ stunning surge saw Brady lead his team from a 28-3 deficit with little more than a quarter remaining against the Atlanta Falcons during Super Bowl LI on 5 February 2017. Clawing back from the 25 point hole in the third quarter, Brady dialed up every play he could find on his wrist to pick up three touchdowns, two two-point conversions, and a field goal in less than 18 minutes of game time.

• Considered by some to be the truest reflection of Brady’s connoisseurship, a Patek Philippe TBXII Grand Complication pocket watch from 1917 sold to a client in the room for $264,000 (est. $200,000 - 400,000). A rare example from Brady’s Patek collection, the yellow gold open-faced watch was retailed by Tiffany & Co, witness to the very important collaboration between the two luxury houses, who first joined forces in 1851. This example is unique in that it is triple signed Tiffany & Co, has a massive 53.5 mm diameter, features 42 jewels, and a rare and important caliber that was developed from a Victorin Piguet ebauch – the same ebauch maker as the Henry Graves Supercomplication.

• Tonight’s sale kicked-off with Brady’s 2019 New England Patriots game-worn helmet, which quickly soared to $102,000 after a three-way bidding battle (est. $40,000 - 60,000). One of the most comprehensively matched pieces of Brady memorabilia in the world, this iconic helmet was worn during his 20th year in the NFL, where Brady continued to shine throwing for 4,057 yards, marking the 11th time in his career surpassing the 4,000-yard milestone, along with 24 touchdowns.

• 5 bidders vied for Tom Brady’s Super Bowl XXXIX Game Worn ‘Championship Clinching’ Cleats which sold for $264,000 (est. $200,000 - 300,000). This victory, their third title in four years, firmly established their dominance and solidified Brady’s status as an all-time great.

• Brady’s diamond-encrusted Super Bowl XLIX cufflinks was the subject of rapid-fire bidding. The sought after piece, which marked Brady’s fourth Super Bowl title, sold for $66,000 (est. $50,000 - 60,000) after receiving 8 bids.

• A Rolex GMT-Master II ‘Batman' more than doubled its high estimate, achieving $60,000 – and establishing a new record for the reference at auction (est. $15,000 - 25,000)

• Tonight’s auction saw great results for IWC, the brand which Brady first started collecting and was an ambassador for many years. A Reference IW3881-02 Pilot’s Watch achieved six times the low estimate to realize $72,000, selling to an online bidder. 127 bids were placed for a Reference IW3891-04 Pilot’s Watch Top Gun Edition ‘SFTI’ - the highest number of bids for any lot this evening, which sold for $42,000.
