PARIS.- Throughout the month of January, Christie’s opens its doors to creative figures and contemporary artists. From January 17 to 23, the public will have the opportunity to discover exclusive creations by Mathieu Lehanneur. From January 27 to 29, jeweler Elie Top, who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his house, will unveil his brand-new collection. Dedicated to the Age of Enlightenment, Liaisons Dangereuses will be presented alongside the most iconic pieces in the house’s history.

Finally, from January 8 to 13, Christie’s France will highlight the talents of its in-house artists with the fourth edition of Le Ciel Est Par-Dessous Le Toit.

For the past five years, Christie’s France has been deeply committed to contemporary creation. Emerging artists (Audrey Guttman, Raphaël Denis, My-Lan Hoang-Thu, etc.) as well as established designers (Mathieu Lehanneur, Nicolas Lefevbre, etc.) are regularly invited to exhibit in the salons of Avenue Matignon or to design the staging of sales, such as Giambattista Valli or Alexis Mabille last November with the private-sale exhibition Un Salon par Alexis Mabille, and in December, Pierre Bonnefille.

CARTES BLANCHES

Mathieu Lehanneur, Ici et maintenant
Exhibition from January 17 to 23, 2025

Christie’s once again welcomes the latest creations of Mathieu Lehanneur. Following the success of his 50 Seas exhibition, a project that cataloged the colors of the seas and oceans through a series of ceramic wall sculptures, Christie’s renews its invitation to showcase Lehanneur’s new works. Staying true to his inspirations and explorations of nature, time, and the concept of uniqueness, the designer immerses visitors in his world, rich in poetry.

With I Am, Mathieu Lehanneur celebrates the singularity of individuals. A true emblem of modern times, each chair is a unique piece, crafted from the initials of the person to whom it is dedicated, celebrating their equally unique existence.

Paying tribute to his "Intimate Pantheon," the artist has created 12 models inspired by iconic figures, from Richard Buckminster to Quincy Jones. Lehanneur continues his quest to immortalize nature and time with works such as Wallflower, a true floral whirlwind, and Paradise, a sculpted cabinet evoking the sky and the sun.

Finally, an installation will mark the appearance of the Olympic basin in the sky over Paris during the summer of 2024...

Elie Top Celebrates a Decade of His House
Exhibition from January 27 to 29, 2025

Invited to design the scenography for Classic Week in 2019 at Christie's in Paris, and then to share his ‘favourites’ at the Joaillerie Paris sale in December 2022, Elie Top has chosen to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the jewellery house that bears his name in the same salons on Avenue Matignon. This anniversary will be an opportunity to unveil its brand new collection dedicated to the Age of Enlightenment, ‘Dangerous Liaisons’. Alongside this collection, the public will be invited to rediscover Elie Top's most striking pieces, created over the course of the decade and brought together in the ‘Métamorphoses’ exhibition.

Trained by some of the greatest couturiers of the 20th century - Yves Saint Laurent, Loulou de la Falaise and Alber Elbaz - Elie Top loves bold combinations, bringing together different eras and materials to create jewellery with strong lines and assertive volumes that are both surprising and precious. He comments, ‘I design singular jewels that play with eras, I invent the paradoxes of a future classicism, hidden treasures emerge from the legends of the past’.
