NEW YORK.- The fair, at The 7th Regiment Armory, Park Avenue at 67th Street, New York, runs from October 6 through October 11, 2006. The youngest of the New York fairs in the Haughton International stable, the event is a celebration of the continuing strength of the market for modernist works and is a compelling attraction for its growing band of collectors worldwide. The Gala Preview Party on Thursday, October 5th will benefit The Bard Graduate Center for Studies in The Decorative Arts, Design and Culture in New York.

The fair embraces art and objects of the highest quality and superb, often spectacular design from 1900 to contemporary. All exhibits are for sale and all have been strictly vetted for authenticity and quality by a committee of independent specialists in their respective fields.

Dealers from the United States, Europe and Australia present an exciting range of furniture, paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, textiles, glass, pottery and porcelain, metalwork, silver, books, watches, ethnographica and Asian art, all displayed in the dramatically styled setting for which the Haughtons are renowned.

EXHIBITION - Eva Zeisel: “My Century”, Curated by Ronald T. Labaco. Exhibition installation by the Exhibition Department of the Bard Graduate Center, Catalogue Essay by Ronald T. Labaco. Organized by The Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design, and Culture.

At the age of 99, Eva Zeisel is undoubtedly the most important ceramic dinnerware designer of our time. The exhibition will highlight the extraordinarily international career of this living legend-from her earliest ceramic designs in Hungary and Germany in the 1920s, to her contributions as Artistic Director of the Soviet ceramic industry in the 1930s, and her landmark works in the United States during and after the war, including the first modern American dinnerware service in fine china, unveiled at MoMA, New York, in 1946. An advocate of industrial production, she has championed the use of s-curves and ribbon-like arcs in her designs, including her iconic Town and Country and Tomorrow’s Classic lines of ceramics. In the years that followed, she designed for companies in America, Germany, England, Japan, and India. At the age of 99 she continues to design in ceramic, glass, metal, wood, and plastic for numerous companies worldwide.
