The historic sale series began on the evening of Tuesday, November 19, 2024 kicking off in Christie’s Rockefeller Center saleroom with Mica: The Collection of Mica Ertegun Part I. The sale achieved enormous success, totaling $184 Million, selling 100% by lot, 100% by value, 113% hammer against low estimate. The leading highlight of the evening was Rene Magritte’s masterpiece L’empire des lumieres, which sold for a record-breaking $121.2 Million and established a new benchmark for the Surrealist movement.

Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Mica: The Collection of Mica Ertegun Part II realized $5 Million, selling 100% by lot, 100% by value, and 116% hammer against low estimate. The top lot of the 44-lot sale was Trois personnages debout, an exceptional work on paper by Pablo Picasso, which sold for $567,000.

Sales continued Tuesday, December 10, 2024 with Magnificent Jewels offering an exquisite 16-lot selection of jewelry which achieved $2.6 Million—nearly six times its low estimate. It was 100% sold by lot and 449% hammer against low estimate, with over 80% of the lots achieving more than double their low estimate. The highest price within the collection came for a Cartier Art Deco Multi-Gem and Diamond Brooch, which sold for $1,381,000, more than ten times its low estimate.

The fourth and final live sale, Mica: The Collection of Mica Ertegun Part III, took place on Friday, December 13, 2024, totaling $2.7 Million against a low estimate of $671,100. The sale was 100% sold by lot, selling 318% hammer against low estimate. The top lot was a 10-Panel Korean Screen, which sold for a price of $642,600 – more than 42 times its low estimate.

Mica: The Collection of Mica Ertegun New York Online closed Tuesday, December 17, 2024. The sale achieved $1,224,090 and was 100% sold by lot, 100% by value, and 285% hammer against low estimate. The top lot of the sale was an untitled work by Eren Eyüboğlu, which realized $88,200 against a low estimate of $1,000.

The final sale of the collection, Mica: The Collection of Mica Ertegun Paris Online closed Wednesday, December 18, 2024. The sale totaled $653,936 (EUR 621,936), selling 100% by lot, 100% by value, and 181% hammer against low estimate. Leading the sale was Cavalli Antichi by Giorgio de Chirico, which achieved $79,490 (EUR 75,600).
