CONCORD, MA.- The Art Committee and curator Anne Brooke have planned an exciting show, “American Artists in Rural Ireland: the Ballinglen Experience,” from October 7 though November 5. Featuring the work of 38 American artists from14 states, the show reflects Irish inspiration and American artistic sensibilities.

The exhibition is the first comprehensive show to highlight the art of American Fellows of the Ballinglen Foundation. Founded by Margo Dolan and Peter Maxwell in 1992, the Ballinglen Arts Foundation was begun as a unique rural revitalization project in which artists of international stature come to stay in the village of Ballycastle, Ireland. To date, more than 150 painters, printmakers, and sculptors have experienced the stark beauty of Ballinglen and created work inspired by its unique environment.

The Concord Art exhibit tells the story of Ballinglen through the eyes, minds, and work of the American artists who have lived and worked there in the last decade and a half.

A catalogue, designed by Peter Maxwell and featuring an image from each of the participating artists, will extend the show’s reach and interest. It will be available during the show or by contacting the Art Association.
