VENICE.- Opening on 12 February 2025 at 6pm, Barovier&Toso ARTE is a new gallery on Murano dedicated to contemporary artists who integrate glass as a fundamental part of their artistic identity.

The primary aim of Barovier&Toso ARTE is to present contemporary artworks crafted in glass, embedding them within an interdisciplinary context that embraces painting, sculpture, drawing, textiles, and other artistic practices.

Glass is envisioned here as a dynamic form of expression, far removed from the preconceptions that confine it solely to the realm of craftsmanship, becoming instead a sophisticated creative tool for today's artists.

Alongside Barovier&Toso, which traces its roots back to 1295 when Barovier established the world’s oldest glassmaking company—now specialising in luxury lighting and design—Barovier&Toso ARTE positions itself as an innovative entity crossing over into the world of fine arts.

The inauguration of this new space will be marked by the exhibition "Glass Art in Dialogue," a project by artists Marija Jaensch and Amy Thai, open to the public from 13 February to 8 June 2025. Both artists, previously featured in the group exhibition "H2O Venezia: Diari d’Acqua / Water Diaries" promoted by the Fondazione Barovier&Toso during the last Venice Biennale Arte, will explore for the first time the medium of glass and Murano’s historical legacy.

The gallery is housed on the second and top floor of the prestigious Palazzo Barovier&Toso on Murano, within the Sala dell’Acqua. Built in 1920, the building is a true temple of luxury, overlooking the historic Rio dei Vetrai, the canal home to the world’s most renowned glassmaking company and furnaces.

The Sala dell’Acqua is a spacious environment with a trussed ceiling, dominated by four majestic Barovier&Toso chandeliers blending classical, modern, and contemporary styles. Adjacent to the exhibition hall, a bar area and a café in soft pink tones will host events and roundtable discussions.
