CORAL GABLES, FL.- The Jorge M. Perez Architecture Center Gallery presents Plaster Cast Collection: “A Legacy of Dukes and Sultans from the 12th to the 16th Centuries” currently on view through Wednesday, November 22. In November 2005, the University of Miami’s School of Architecture became the new home for a collection of 19 plaster casts donated by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Professor Rocco Ceo traveled to the Museum to select the collection – architectural fragments and busts from monuments in France, Spain, Italy and Egypt dating back to the 12th through the 16th centuries.

The restoration of the casts was led by the School’s drawing instructor Jose Grave de Peralta, with the dedicated help of several graduate students. He will conduct a short walking tour and lecture about the challenging restoration and research work that went into the adoption of these remarkable works. The casts will become part of the School’s permanent collection and will be used as subjects for freehand drawing instruction for undergraduate and graduate students. The exhibition is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
