Nacho López. Miracles and Revelations |

Nacho Lopez, Tiré du photo-essai "La Vénus est partie faire la noce dans les bas quartiers", Mexico, 1953.
|
PARIS, FRANCE.- Instituto de México presents Nacho López. Miracles and Revelations, on view 16 November - 13 January, 2007. Nacho López (1923-1986) was one of the most important Mexican photographers of the 20th century, although his work is little known outside Mexico. Most of the pictures presented here were produced in the 1950s, a crucial period often referred to as the "Mexican miracle". During that decade rural Mexico seemed to be waking from a fitful sleep, suddenly aware that it had entered the modern world. Lopez explored the changes the country was undergoing at the time, and recorded its transformations. With unerring sensitivity he revealed the conflicts and contradictions of modernity and the miracle of day-to-day survival in Mexico. Curator : Vesta Mónica Herrerías.
