How to find "your" books and love reading

Hundreds of thousands of books in various genres are published and downloaded from Z-lib every year. Such a variety can be discouraging. Which of these works is worth reading, and which literature is best avoided? How can you orient yourself in the book world and avoid being distracted from reading?

Modern reading and the development of the book industry

Reading is different. Earlier, people read many poems, and now, more and more people read books on self-development. At the same time, it cannot be said that no poetry lovers are left - they simply became fewer, and poetry became second. The formation of fashion is influenced by the picture of values that develops in society.

In some cases, social networks also set the fashion for reading, in which people start a collective game. The question is not whether they read more or less but whether reading is transformed.

The new generation requires some second type of literature– less authorial, intellectual, educational, and didactic, but similar to semi-folklore—for example, young adult or romantic fantasy. Online resources have appeared where people write fan fiction or texts within a well-established genre with their fandom.

How to love reading

There is no such question as to love reading by itself. We all love to read. For example, a person reads often during the day - on social media and messengers. But all the information he receives is not expressed in the format of a four-volume epic novel or a thick literary magazine.

There is no universal advice on instilling a love of reading books. A person may be in an environment where the culture of reading is developed: he is influenced by his family, friends, and fellow students. He finds that set of emotions and content that social media cannot provide in reading.

For the second person, a book is an opportunity to escape from an aggressive, oversaturated information environment, to experience a slightly different time rhythm, and to find yourself in a cozy environment.

Some people read because they want to know more. People also read because it is simply close to their interests: historical, public, scientific, or ideological.

Reading is a social process that takes different forms. Discussing what has been read is an important need. Having someone to talk to about books is a huge plus. Even if there are no people nearby to share with, there are always guides, lecturers, and critics.

100 books to read before you die

Such lists work only for one reader's need: "I want to read all the most important and important things while I'm alive." To satisfy this need, humanity invented the concept of a literary canon. Culture has selected 100 books that a person can definitely read in a lifetime.

Read critics and bloggers. If the speaker's intonation is close to yours and his tastes more or less coincide, pay attention to the books he recommends. There are no universal figures and recommendations here; there will be an advisor for each reader.
