GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY hosted their most recent Multi-Estates auction on May 31st, offering hundreds of impressive items from multiple noteworthy estates and collections, including the exquisite personal collection of art and antiques from the estate of prominent Long Islander Laura Leonard Ault.

Topping the very successful auction were an exquisite pair of Pair George III Giltwood Mirrors, circa 1780, with scrolling and pierced gilt frames, likely gilded later, retailed by Kentshire at Bunny Williams Incorporated, NY, with the mercury glass replaced in the late 19th century and with the 2005 valuation of $135,000, selling for $42,250.

In Rolands Art arena, an After Alexander Calder (American, 1898-1976) zebra tapestry, 1975, made from woven rattan, initialed CA and dated to lower right, editioned 54/100 at lower left, with the artist's cypher at upper right; with loops for hanging affixed at upper verso, brought in $29,250, a Louise Nevelson Nevelson (Ukraine/United States, 1899-1988) Wall Relief, circa 1960, ebonized wood wall relief, signed Nevelson to lower left, went for $19,500, while a John Wesley (American, b. 1928) ink on paper depicting George Washington in upper right and three Native Americans, all in profile portraits, signed and titled lower left, dated 1963, bearing Robert Elkon Gallery label verso. Exhibition: Robert Elkon Gallery Exhibition of Works by John Wesley, Jan. 7 to Feb. 2, 1964. This work was the study for the cover image from that show, from the Estate of Laura Leonard Ault, sold for $11,050.

In addition, a Paul Colin (French, 1892-1985) "Andre Renaud" 1929 Poster, Vintage poster for French pianist Andre Renaud designed by Paul Colin Printed by Chachoin, Paris, 1929. sold for $4225, a Bruce Weber boxed set titled "The Twins from Madrid," a haunting and visually striking series with twin models from Spain, Juan and Cesar Hortoneda, showcasing Webers signature black-and-white aesthetic, went for $2,600 and a Bruce Weber (American, b. 1946) framed silver gelatin print depicting a standing nude portrait facing away from view. Annotated in pencil to reverse "29977-30 #16" and possibly monogrammed, sold for $1170.

Silver also had a good showing, with a Georg Jensen "Acorn" Sterling Silver Flatware, 142, "Acorn" pattern sterling silver flatware service, Denmark, designed by Johan Rohde in 1915, comprising 14 bouillon spoons, 8 grapefruit spoons, 4 iced teaspoons, 27 teaspoons, 14 dinner knives [10" L], 10 flat butter spreaders, 13 seafood forks, 12 dinner forks [8" L], 10 luncheon forks [6.5" L], 15 salad forks [6.5" l], and 15 assorted serving pieces, total 138 ozt, went for $5525 and a Tiffany & Co. Makers Pr of Sterling Candlesticks, pair of mid-century modern sterling silver candlesticks, 1947-1955, the elongated trumpet shaped necks joined at the base with stylized palmettes, total 32.5 ozt., marks to base including M for Louis De Bian Moore, scratch #2222 and pattern #23240, sold for $2340.
