MONTEREY, CA.- RM Sothebys has announced two standout Ferrari F40s as the latest consignments for its Monterey 2025 auction: a remarkably original 1990 Ferrari F40 preserved in static storage for 35 years, and a bold, reimagined 1992 Ferrari F40 known as the Blue Chip F40. Regarded as one of the most iconic supercars ever built, the F40 was the final model developed under Enzo Ferraris leadership and remains a raw, uncompromising expression of Ferraris racing DNA. This announcement follows the unveiling of additional Monterey highlights, including Ralph Laurens former Ferrari F50 and a selection of rare Alfa Romeo competition cars.
Weve handled many F40s over the years, but offering two distinctly different examples in one sale, one from original ownership and the other a reimagined version with an LM gearbox and custom finish, shows just how broad the appeal of this model really is, said Gord Duff, President of RM Sothebys. Its a car that continues to resonate with collectors and enthusiasts in very different ways.
1992 Ferrari F40 Blue Chip F40: Completed in July 1992 and delivered new to Italy, chassis 94647 enjoyed a well-documented life as a standard-specification F40 before its current owner commissioned a carefully planned upgrade programme with Furlonger Specialist Cars in the United Kingdom. The goal was to enhance performance and drivability while preserving the models iconic character. Key features of the conversion include a rare Michelotto-developed F40 LM racing gearbox, revised turbo wastegates, a Tubi exhaust, KW fully adjustable suspension with front-axle lift, and 355 mm Brembo GT brakes paired with custom 18-inch centre-lock wheels that echo the original five-spoke design. Finished in Azzurro Hyperion, the car retains the unmistakable F40 silhouette while offering a distinctive, factory-quality presentation. Prior to this transformation, chassis 94647 was Ferrari Classiche Certified in 2013, with its Red Book confirming its originality.
Supplied today from a significant private collection, and accompanied by its original warranty and service book, original gearbox, Red Book, and service records, the Blue Chip F40 represents a rare opportunity to acquire a thoughtfully enhanced example of Ferraris final model signed off by Enzo himself (Estimate: $2,500,000 $2,800,000 USD).
1990 Ferrari F40: Chassis 84036 is a time-capsule example of Ferraris landmark supercardeveloped under Enzo Ferrari to mark the brands 40th anniversary. Delivered by Hong Seh Motors, this rare non-cat, non-adjust European-spec F40 remained with its original owner for 35 years in static storage and shows just 360 kilometers from new. An extraordinary opportunity to acquire an ultra-low mile one-owner Ferrari F40 (Estimate: $2,400,000 $2,600,000 USD).
