CINCINNATI, OH.- Visionaries + Voices will host Chloe Greenberg as our 2025 Artist in Residence! Selected through a juried process including staff and over 30 participating V+V artists, Chloe is a Cincinnati-based children’s book illustrator and collage artist known for her vibrant, painterly constructed paper assemblages.

Over the course of 6 weeks, Greenberg has spent 3-4 days per week working and collaborating with artists at both V+V studios. Knowing each artist has their own unique aesthetic approach and stylistic quirks, the work she’s making expands on how differences are necessary and crucial to illustrating a personalized piece of painterly collage.

Greenberg says of her time so far working in both studios, “I think it’s refreshing that many of the artists make art with little to no inhibitions; they just make art because they enjoy it. They aren’t making themselves meet certain standards that are required of artists by the ‘art world.’ I’ve been wanting to work more freely and without nagging perfectionism, and as I’ve been working on projects within the residency, it has felt really nice to be aware of the fact that my work does not have to be perfect.”

The residency will culminate in a collaborative exhibition, showcasing works created in tandem with V+V artists. Join us for the Opening Reception on July 25 to experience the joyful results of this creative exchange.

Chloe Greenberg (she/they) is a freelance children’s book illustrator and collage artist based in Cincinnati, Ohio. After her college career at Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, she collaborated with Kati Hirschy on My Autistic Mama, a book that discusses autistic traits from a positive and joyful perspective. Their second book, In My Own Voice by Sandy Eisenberg Sasso is a historical fiction about the first female cantor and was published in 2025.

Chloe enjoys using bright colors, expressive textures and flowing compositions to add a playful energy to their illustrations. She is largely inspired by environmental conservation, live music, and the LGBTQ+ community.

When not making art, you may find Chloe bird watching at their local park, going to concerts with friends, attending local puppet shows, volunteering with Food Not Bombs, or watching movies.
