STUTTGART.- Künstlerhaus Stuttgart has named Juliane Gebhardt as its new Managing Director, marking a significant step for the renowned institution. Gebhardt, a 34-year-old artist and curator who has served as a curatorial assistant at Künstlerhaus since 2021, will step into her new leadership role on August 15, 2025.

Gebhardt's appointment is notable for her diverse background, blending business acumen, curatorial insight, and a deep familiarity with the organization. "Having worked as a curatorial assistant for four years, I know Künstlerhaus's unique structures, potentials, and challenges very well," Gebhardt stated. "I'm excited to now apply this experience with expanded responsibility."

A native of Karlsruhe, Gebhardt's interdisciplinary education includes a dual degree in Business Administration, a state examination in Art and English Studies, and completion of the prestigious Weißenhof Program at ABK Stuttgart, where she earned her master student degree in 2023. Beyond her work at Künstlerhaus, she has also led the Kunstraum 34 art association as director since 2022, taking on its managing director duties in 2024.

"Juliane Gebhardt perfectly embodies the fusion of artistic understanding and administrative competence," explained Ania Corcilius, First Chairwoman of Künstlerhaus Stuttgart e.V. "Her grasp of the institution's needs, her knowledge of current art discussions, and her parallel leadership experience make her the ideal candidate for this important position."

Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, founded in 1978 by artists for artists, has grown into a locally and internationally recognized institution. It provides exhibition spaces, workshops, and six artist studios with rotating fellowships, serving as a platform for social and political discourse while engaging with contemporary artistic practices. Among Gebhardt's key objectives are further connecting Künstlerhaus with the wider Stuttgart community, increasing the involvement of its studio fellows, and fostering collaboration with other European artist houses.
