Todd Caissie most recently served as Director of the New Brunswick Internment Camp Museum in Canada.

MONTCLAIR, NJ.- The Montclair Art Museum announced the appointment of Todd Caissie (Osage) as its new Deputy Director, effective July 2025. Dr. Caissie brings more than a decade of experience in museum leadership, arts education, and cultural heritage work, joining MAM at a pivotal moment in its growth.

He most recently served as Director of the New Brunswick Internment Camp Museum in Canada, a board member of the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers, and was selected as a grant panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts' Museums program. An enrolled member of the Osage Nation, his academic background includes an MA and PhD from Rutgers University, where he held two Andrew Mellon Curatorial Summer Internships and taught in the art history department. He also earned BA from Stony Brook University and BA from Hunter College. Caissie has curated exhibitions in the US and Canada and previously collaborated with MAM as an advisor on the Interwoven Power reinstallation of Native art.

Before entering the cultural sector, Caissie spent over a decade as an Executive Search Consultant in Tokyo and New York, including Country Head for the Japan office of a Fortune 100 company managing up to forty-five staff.

“Todd Caissie brings a wealth of experience in arts administration and strategic leadership that aligns beautifully with our museum’s mission and vision for the future,” said Christine James, President of the MAM Board of Trustees. Executive Director Ira Wagner added, “I am excited to have Todd join the leadership team at MAM as we increase our resources to further our mission, build our presence as a cultural anchor for our community, and look to the next generation to continue our work.”

As Deputy Director, Caissie will support institutional priorities, advance operational strategy, and help guide MAM’s long-term efforts to engage audiences through inclusive and innovative programming.
