DUBAI.- JD Malat Gallery is presenting Serenity, a group exhibition that creates a space for quiet contemplation and emotional resonance. Serenity brings together a collection of 15 works that invite viewers into a meditative engagement with art, offering a respite from the frenetic pace of modern life.

Serenity features works from 11 different artists, whose methodologies mirror the contemplative themes of the show, emphasising the show’s eponymous themes of serenity, mindfulness, and the healing power of artistic expression. Among these works are Zhang Ji's rhythmic raised forms inspired by architectural motifs, which echo feelings of security and connection. Complementing these are Gary Lang's bright, neon-colored works which draw on the illusionistic and hypnotising spirals, guiding viewers toward present-moment awareness.

In moments of frustration or uncertainty, humanity often turns to nature as a means of recapturing serenity and the spiritual connection with the world. The sense of familiarity, continuity, and unity with the earth reinforces harmony in life. This connection is exemplified in the works of Swiss artist Conrad Jon Godly, whose heavily textured compositions of the Alps inspire awe in viewers. Despite using trichromatic palettes, his works reflect the richness and depth of the mountains, resonating with the Sublime through its monumentality. Similarly, Masayoshi Nojo combines contemporary multimedia techniques with Japanese aesthetics of nature, exploring themes of memory and the passage of time. Through his use of silver and aluminium foil, he references the transient nature of life due to the metal's changing colour through oxidation. Spiritual serenity is further explored in Katrin Fridriks’ Golden Startrek, as the amalgamation of brown, white, and black evoke an elemental, earthly connection. Her work, alongside Andy Moses’ colourful explorations transcend familiar realms of corporeality, attempting to capture her interest in time, body, and soul.

Each piece in the exhibition embodies the journey of healing, representing the search for tranquility and serenity in everyday life. The exhibition’s emphasis on harmony throughout encourages spiritual introspection and emotional release, as viewers are guided through a sensory experience that evokes calm, tranquility, and emotional equilibrium, creating moments of pause.

Serenity stands as a testament to art's capacity to heal, transform, and connect us with deeper aspects of human experience. In a world increasingly defined by noise and haste, this exhibition offers a precious opportunity to slow down, reflect, and find meaning in stillness.
